When the 2021 NASCAR season finale concluded, Kyle Larson earned the title of champion. Interestingly, he recently confessed that nothing really changed for him in his life. The driver had the impression that champion status would be a life-changing experience.

However, the reality is a lot different and dare we say, underwhelming.

Larson said, “I thought, when you become champion. You wake up the next day and you feel different and you are different, and stuff like that. But, you wake up the next day to two crazy screaming kids, Katelyn is bossing you around to do stuff. It’s all normal and I prefer it that way. I don’t think any of us want it to go to our heads, especially when you want to win more of them in the future.

Now, the Hendrick Motorsports driver is preparing for the 2022 NASCAR Cup season. In all honesty, winning the title is one thing, but defending it will be a different kettle of fish. However, let it not be said that he will not be up for the challenge. Even though there is the additional challenge of the Next Gen cars, Kyle Larson is adapting well.

In fact, he topped on the opening day of testing at the Phoenix Raceway earlier. Now, he will be aiming to carry that momentum forward into the second day of testing. This particular test is important because it is the final pre-season test before the unofficial start of the 2022 campaign.

After this, everyone will head to the LA Coliseum for the Busch Clash. Many have mixed feelings about this race for a variety of reasons. The more optimists are excited to see the new cars get an acid test on a brand new track. The other side of the fence has raised a few concerns about the short nature of the LA Coliseum. In other words, they are worried that the tiny track could be a recipe for carnage.
