Kyle Larson has rightfully earned the moniker ‘Yung Money’. The HMS driver’s ability to adapt to any racetrack and any vehicle is already well documented. And this time the #5 driver will be looking to try his luck at the 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout before the intense schedule of 2024 gets underway. What’s more? Larson will get a chance to clinch not just the trophy but also some monetary incentive! The competition will feature Super Late Model vehicles, Modifieds, and X-Mods across eight days of high-speed racing.
The Vado Speedway Park will host the event from January 6 to January 14. Considering Kyle Larson’s pedigree in the competition, he is one of the drivers to look out for. One of the major attractions is the generous bonus distribution system in the competition. For example, if a driver can win all six Super Late Model featured races, they will receive a bonus of $300,000.

The title sponsor, Dirt Track Bank, is one of the reasons for the appealing payouts. It has aimed to add different challenges to the event, attracting drivers to the competition and allowing them to earn money on every race night. Rio Grande Waste Services is the company at work in the Super Late Model circuit. The company will sponsor multiple awards for races of that class and will award $500 to the winner of the ‘Hard Charger’ and $1000 through the ‘Shock the Clock’ challenge.
The company is also the official sponsor of the Start and Restart zones for the competition and awards $25,000 to the Super Late Model finale race winner. The bonus rewards system offers $100,000 to drivers who can secure five wins at the event and $25,000 for four victories. Kyle Larson’s eye will be on the big prize as he aims to sweep the desert racing event with more than $300,000.
If a Super Late Model car driver can sweep the week, it would award him $75,000 just for his wins. Five featured wins earn a driver $50,000 race prize money and $25,000 for the finale.

On top of that, a Penske Racing Shocks $300,000 jackpot bonus for the driver who can sweep the competition is an elusive but lucrative target. Jonathan Davenport was the best driver at the 2023 iteration of the competition. Davenport won the first three Super Late Model races to grab a significant portion of the $300,000 bonus.

The Wehrs Machine Five-Or-More Modified Challenge received a warm response from the drivers and fans in 2023. Announcing its return in style, the event added a $15,000 bonus for any driver who wins five or more races in the competition. Winning all six races guarantees drivers a prize worth more than $25,000. The award is yet to be won by a driver. Dereck Ramirez came close to claiming that bonus in 2023, winning three races and eventually the Modified event trophy.
Another challenge that has retained its place after a three-year stint is the Arizona Differential Four-Or-More Challenge. The challenge awards X-Mod drivers a $2,500 bonus if they can win four or more feature races in the Wild West Shootout Week.
