For the longest time, the World of Outlaws was the undisputed number one when it came to sprint car racing competition. However, Kyle Larson has brought some stiff competition with the High Limit racing series. The Hendrick Motorsports Cup Series driver believes that the four-and-a-half decade-long competition will make some changes to their business strategy to stay ahead of High Limit Racing for the time being.
Since its inception in 2022, the competition’s popularity has skyrocketed with several world-class athletes taking part in the competition, including Larson himself and the 5-time World of Outlaws champion, Brad Sweet. Sweet also recently spoke about the competition between the two series but decided to stay away from the political side of things.

In a recent interview with FloRacing, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion spoke about his series and the World of Outlaws. Kyle Larson acknowledged the competition between the two organizations and that he wanted to prove to the fans that High Limit was doing a good job. However, it is perhaps too soon to see the series as a genuine competitor to the World of Outlaws, which has been around since 1978.
“Yeah just excited to prove to people that we are good and what the Outlaws do going forward because I’m sure they’ll have to change their business model a little bit to continue to be as the premier series like they are,” the 2021 Cup Series NASCAR champion said.
In an attempt to entice drivers and team owners to themselves, High Limit has promised to raise prize money and promote financial transparency. By 2024, Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet intend to increase the number of racing events to roughly 60. FloRacing has also been a huge assistance to them in their quest as a media partner.
For Brad Sweet, the situation is a unique one. On one hand, he is the owner of the High Limit Racing series and also one of the most successful drivers in the history of the World of Outlaws. Speaking about there being any potential competition, Sweet took a safe route out.

However, the 37-year-old driver admitted that there was going to be competition between the two series. Sweet also said that some fans were not going to be happy about it as not everyone likes change. Regardless, the main goal remains the same. To make High Limit Racing as successful as possible with Kyle Larson.
“We try not to get too caught up in the politics of it and try to stay focused. … Obviously, (the politics) is there and anytime you’re trying to make a positive change in any industry, there’s always going to be people who are concerned or don’t like change or just happy with the status quo. This definitely isn’t the status quo,” he said.
