Team Hendrick and NASCAR collaborated on an Instagram video with Kyle Larson, where the latter shared the impact of NASCAR on his career. Larson talks about how he always wanted to become a race car driver throughout his childhood. Watching the likes of Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, and Kasey Kahne inspired him. The No. 5 driver also cheekily remarked that he was moved by the lavish lifestyle that one gets on becoming an American Auto Racing driver.

He said, “I think I wanted to get into NASCAR because I grew up watching it. I grew up cheering for other dirt racers like Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne, and I wanted to hopefully someday race against them. There’s a lot that makes NASCAR special. I think the access that fans can get to their favorite driver is much more than most other sports, especially professional. I think that’s really great for the fan and everybody involved. For American auto racing, like, that’s where you can make the best living, being a race car driver, too. That was also the reason why I wanted to get to the highest form of american auto racing.”

Larson further, talking in a motivational tone, added, “I don’t know what impact I want to have on young racers. I just want them to look at me as a good role model for the sport of racing, really, because I do so much within NASCAR as well as outside of NASCAR. So I guess encourage them to be versatile and be able to try and go race other types of cars and hone your craft that way, rather than just committing to one thing.”
