When the 2021 NASCAR Cup season ended, Kyle Larson took some time away during the off season. During that time, Larson decided to head to the LA Coliseum, which will make its Cup debut next year. Over there, he spoke to Fox Sports reporter Bob Pockrass, who talked to him about various subjects. Among them, he spoke about a particular image that his father posted on social media.

This image featured Larson at Phoenix in 1993, and the reigning champion tried to re-create it. The Hendrick Motorsports driver said, “I don’t remember anything about ’93. I remember going to, I think it was some Copper World Classic races. Would have probably been like 4-5 maybe around then. I mostly remember it because of my mom’s pictures that she takes all the time. Didn’t realize we were re-creating anything, or I would have got on his back, than on his shoulders.”
What did Kyle Larson think of the photograph?

On the subject of the photograph, Larson found that it was ‘cool’ to see his parents there and he also liked the photo. The original photograph features a baby Kyle Larson riding on the back of his father. Of course, the driver has since grown too old and heavy to ride on his father’s shoulders.
So, he elected to re-create it by sitting on the catchfence at the Phoenix Raceway. Then, he would let camera angles work their magic to give the illusion of him riding his dad’s shoulders.
On a more serious note, the reigning Cup Series champion is enjoying the downtime before the new season kicks off. Without a doubt, he will be keen to try and defend his title. This was a feat that his predecessor, Chase Elliott could not perform in 2021. The real question is, will Kyle Larson come back stronger? Or will there be a new contender for the 2022 Cup Series.
