As is the father, so is the son. Across Kyle Busch’s boisterous career in NASCAR, multiple instances have lent him the perfect title – ‘Rowdy.’ He lied about his age to race in the Las Vegas Bullring and got into his rivals’ bad books several times. Most notably, the brush-up with Kevin Harvick’s Truck Series driver, Ron Hornaday Jr., was an aggressive conflict. Now, Busch has toned down his tough nature – only to allow his son to shine.
Brexton Busch is already on an ascending ladder to succeed in motorsports. But while he is young, he is spending some quality time with his dad. Even while playing a prank, Kyle Busch discovered sparks of his own ‘Rowdy’ mentality in his son.

Being the winningest driver across NASCAR’s national levels with 231 wins, Kyle Busch is already a beacon of inspiration for his family. His son Brexton began racing in the Beginner Box Stock division at Millbridge Speedway and Mountain Creek Speedway at the mere age of five. Already, he has bagged hefty prizes – in 2023, he clinched over 30 race wins across different disciplines like Outlaw Karts, Bandoleros, and Restricted Micros.
Although it seems Busch has also inspired his son with his ‘Rowdy’ gene. He discovered a sliver of it as Brexton readily accepted a tough challenge that his father gave him.
In 2022, Richard Childress gave Brexton a signed $100 bill as a contract when Kyle Busch signed up for RCR. Similarly, Kyle Busch recently presented another enticing offer of cashing a hundred bucks if Brexton could do a spicy challenge – holding a lump of horseradish in his mouth for 60 seconds. And the little achiever did it flawlessly in true ‘Rowdy’ spirit, albeit while roughly fighting off the urge to spit out the fiery food. The young Busch posted his new talent on Instagram: “60 seconds of horseradish for $100. No problem.😤🤑”

This is not the first time that Brexton bested his dad. Kyle Busch doused his son in water after the latter won in Box Stock racing. However, during the Lucas Oil-sponsored dirt race, Brexton got his revenge. After clinching the victory, the proud dad was doing a press interview. Soon after, his son and his gang of friends pounced upon Kyle Busch – soaking him in water sprayed from several water bottles. The young ‘Rowdy’ racer proudly captioned his revenge post: “I got my revenge!! My dad dumped water on me so many times in victory lane this year, and I finally got him back!”
As Brexton emulates his dad in every possible way, Kyle Busch is laying down a future path for him.

True, nobody liked Kyle Busch during the prime of his ‘Rowdy’ days. When he wrecked out Ron Hornaday Jr. in 2011, he incurred the wrath of Kevin Harvick – Busch claimed he ‘saw red’ during the conflict. However, his resume of wins is legendary. Overtaking even Richard Petty’s 200 wins, the two-time Cup Series champion is an asset to NASCAR. Even Harvick acknowledged it, “But in the end, Kyle is still one of the best that’s ever come through this garage.” So despite hints of the Rowdy gene appearing in Brexton Busch’s nature, his father is preparing him to become a legendary racer like himself.
Kyle Busch hopes to compete with his son in the Craftsman Truck Series as soon as he turns 18. But that milestone is still almost a decade away, and Busch is focusing on honing his son’s skills instead. Hailing from a racing family, Brexton doesn’t have to look far for inspiration. Grandfather Tom and Uncle Kurt are both distinguished racers. Tom Busch was a mechanic at a Ford dealership and a tools dealer as well and he inspired his sons Kyle and Kurt Busch to take on the sport. Kurt Busch, of course, is a NASCAR Cup Series Championship-winning driver (2004).

Brexton has all the guidance right at home with a successful family full of racers. “We’ve got a ‘dynasty’ worked out for him that hopefully he can get to the NASCAR big leagues as he gets a little bit older,” Busch said. “But he’s racing a lot. He’s winning a lot. He’s having fun a lot. So it feels really good to continue on his passion.”
Evidently, we may have another ‘Rowdy’ driver in our midst in no time. Although Brexton is young, he is already showing the marks of excellence that a legendary Busch driver carries.
