NASCAR has changed a lot over the years. Of course, with the growing popularity of the sport and more interest, some things are bound to change. Interestingly, even Kyle Busch feels that there has been a change in the nature and intent of the stock car racing series.

Busch recalls talking about this at a fishing trip with Hendrick Motorsports boss, Rick Hendrick, and none other than Bill France Jr.

The former Chief Executive of NASCAR, France Jr., was part of the fishing trip where Busch recalled talking about the way the sport has changed over the years. However, the theory the former Executive had is of racing turning into a business.

He said, “A little bit, yeah. One of the things that came to mind was him saying how this sport is turning into a business. It’s not the old racing mentality of ‘Hey, let’s load up the stuff and go to the track. It’s a business where we’ve got haulers and sponsors and everything else’.”

Busch also agreed with another very bold statement by France Jr. And according to them, you need money to have a chance of driving a race car now.

The driver of the #18 car added, “One thing he said was, “It’s turning into a business; racers are a dying breed.” And he’s exactly right. To his point exactly, to make it in this sport now, you’d better have money. Drivers like me or Joey Logano or Ryan Blaney, for instance, there’s not many coming up and making it that are great with talent but don’t have the money.”
