Despite a 7th place finish at Kansas, which for many would be considered a great result, it’s pretty certain that Kyle Busch wasn’t a happy man at the end of the race. Of course, he’d have preferred a win instead of the top 10 finish he got. But that is just him as a driver in that race.
Because as an owner, he must’ve naturally wanted his Kyle Busch Motorsport entries to also finish in a good spot. But that didn’t happen either as Chase Purdy’s day ended quite early despite him not being part of the major wreck that took out several drivers.
Well, not at first at least.

KBM driver Chase Purdy explains how his day ended at Kansas
With 55 to go in the race, Matt DiBenedetto got hit from behind by Christian Eckes. This led to a massive wreck which took several drivers such as Carson Hocevar, Dean Thompson and more.
By this point, Purdy wasn’t involved in the wreck. But then as he was coming along on the bottom, he simply missed the sliding truck of Eckes’ truck as he ended up T-boning it which led to his day too coming to an end.

Addressing this incident after he was released from the infield care center, Purdy claimed he’s clueless about how what happened, happened.
“I don’t know, we started back there and I saw them all wreck in front of me and I checked up and my spotter even told me, ‘Stay low, stay low.’ So I stayed down there and then I tried to roll on by them and the next thing I know from top of the racetrack down comes the #19,” he claimed. “It’s a frustrating end of the day.”
“Quite frankly I’m pretty pi**ed.”

Yet despite his honest take on what happened on the track, Purdy’s explanation wasn’t taken well by the fans. Quite the opposite as many fans called him out with the main idea being that what happened to him could’ve been avoided by himself.

With that said, do you think Chase Purdy could’ve avoided the wreck and possibly scored a top 10 finish as his boss? Or are you too, of the opinion that he doesn’t have what it takes to be in that KBM Truck?
