Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Kyle Busch may be in his 20th year at the highest level, but retirement isn’t on the immediate horizon for ‘Rowdy’. Instead, he has a multi-year plan in mind, that intertwines with the budding racing career of his prodigal son, Brexton, similar to one of Dale Earnhardt Jr. who caught his first break in the Cup Series driving for his father’s team, ‘Dale Earnhardt Inc.’

In a candid interview on SiriusXM’s Business Radio last year, Busch outlined his retirement aspirations, stating, “I would retire from Cup racing when Brexton is 15 years old and I would go run a year of Trucks.” The plan involved attempting to secure a Truck Series championship, a feat that would make him the first to win championships across all three national NASCAR series.

Amidst all the speculation, the winningest active driver in NASCAR today remains firmly planted in the present, poised to make his mark on the upcoming NASCAR season. Scheduled to compete in five races for Spire Motorsports, Busch’s presence adds an electrifying dimension to the racing landscape. Busch’s races with Spire Motorsports include this weekend’s Fr8Auctions 208 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway as well as appearances at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, and Darlington Raceway. This strategic move aligns with his vision, bringing him one step closer to the multifaceted retirement plan he envisions.

Contemplating the other part of his retirement vision laid out in 2023, attention also turns to his nine-year-old son, Brexton Busch, who is making waves in the racing world. Recently securing a championship in the Box Stock division at Millbridge Speedway, Brexton’s early success has ignited conversations about his future in NASCAR.

“I mean if I think about it you know Brexton turns 16 in eight years so eight years it’ll put me around 45, so that’s kind of what I’m hoping for I hope I can make it that long as long as health is good and everything’s good then yeah,” expressed Busch in a recent conversation with Kevin Harvick, the newest member of the FOX broadcast team and former member of Busch’s current team – Richard Childress Racing.

With over 30 wins under his belt and discussions swirling about his potential future in NASCAR, Brexton’s journey promises to be one defined by excellence and a little ‘Rowdy’ ambitions.

Busch’s retirement plan not only reflects his ambition but also highlights the significance of family and legacy in NASCAR. His intention to mentor his son and share the track with him symbolizes a passing of the torch—a transition from one generation of racers to the next. Commenting on Busch’s switch from JGR, Richard Childress himself drew parallels between Busch and NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Sr. He noted Busch’s resemblance to Earnhardt’s fearless racing style, emphasizing the duo’s impact on the sport’s history.
