This weekend at the Dover Motor Speedway, Kyle Busch continued his fine form from last weekend. After winning at the Talladega Superspeedway, the #8 driver has snatched the pole position for the Dover race. Though it is worth mentioning that no driver went out for qualifying, as the session was washed out. So the grid was set as per the NASCAR rule book, which was great news for the Richard Childress Racing driver.

Busch mentioned in the pre-race press conference, “We have obviously been in our team meetings every week and we continue to talk about our stuff and how we can get better. What things can we look for and try to do.

“I think a lot of that is going to come into play this weekend and next weekend so I am optimistic and hopeful that we will have some really strong runs at Dover and Kansas.”

Kyle Busch was all praises for teammate Austin Dillon

Busch also complimented his teammate, Austin Dillon. He also confessed that the #3 driver was much better than him at a few races. This was largely evident at the short tracks, like Martinsville and the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt race. According to the Talladega race winner, Dillon excelled at long runs, while Busch himself was good at short runs.

The 2-time Cup Series champion continued, “I thought Austin did an awesome job with what we had at Martinsville, running 12th there, that was good. I think he was actually better than me at the Bristol dirt race, had a better long run car than I did.

“I could go on the short run, but not the long run.

“He got the finish he deserved, and I didn’t do a good enough job to get the finish that we needed out of that one. So, obviously, we all have our ups and downs, and I would say that we have struggled at times for sure, you know, Martinsville being the worst. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t go to work and try and figure it out and make it better for both of us.”

Alongside Busch on the front row is former teammate Christopher Bell. Behind them are Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski, and Chris Buescher, rounding out the Top 5. The #6 of Keselowski, could be a dark horse because he was the fastest driver in practice. However, the practice session revealed that many drivers were dealing with tire issues. This was largely evident from the few spins on the track.
