I drew Trackhouse Motorplex without looking. Safe to say I know the track pretty well!” said Brexton Busch in an Instagram post, yet things shaped out quite differently. He started and finished his first karting race in last place, not the result he hoped for. Yet, what he did after lamenting his loss impressed his mother and Busch fans.

Coming from the Busch family, it seemed unconventional for Brexton to try his hands at karting, since his target is NASCAR. But even before embarking on this journey, Brexton has to build himself as a driver and karting seems to be the stepping stone for success. According to Kyle Busch, the aim is for him to learn to tackle road courses in NASCAR.

Brexton had high hopes for himself, and the bars he had set for him were quite high. He was deeply disappointed as he had thought that he would be finishing the run in the Top 5 at least. Given the kind of roadmap that Kyle Busch has envisioned for Brexton, including the Late Model Stock and Super Late Model racing at age 14, eventually leading to the Truck Series at 16, such failures are going to be part of the road.

She took to Instagram and posted, “What I’m most proud of he woke up this morning and said Mom can I watch some film and can we get out on the tracks with someone with experience so I can follow and learn. I know he felt discouraged the other day, happy to see it pushing him to work hard.”

Although Brexton is at a tender age, understanding and surrendering to the fact that he needs someone experienced to guide him is the true sign of maturity. Kyle Busch might be the best person to guide Brexton once he reaches the Truck series forte given his celebrated NASCAR history. And his expertise in stock car racing is evident. Brexton already has the championship at the Millbridge Speedway and over 30 wins at 11 different race tracks.

However, when it comes to karting, Busch may be at something of a disadvantage. While Kyle Busch drove karts as a child, he hasn’t continued to do so ever since he reached the top tier of NASCAR. That’s a massive gap to his karting skill, even if the instinct to drive 0ne remains. Perhaps Busch can reach out to a different driver in NASCAR, someone who loves karting and is Busch’s friend: William Byron.

Byron’s affinity for karting is well known. He helped NASCAR insider Jeff Gluck change his view of the sport and highlighted just how important it is to develop a driver’s skills. Moreover, Byron is someone Busch has worked with before, back when Byron signed for Kyle Busch Motorsports. He even praised Byron earlier this season, going on to as, “So, he probably had a god-given talent that fortunately he found and was able to go do what he loved to do with that and made the most of it.”

Brexton is making quite a name for himself in the sphere of racing. With wins at multiple tracks before the age of 10, the young boy already has his eyes set on a career as a race-car driver. By his side will be his father Kyle Busch, a driver whose name has become synonymous with some of the greatest drivers in NASCAR. Busch thinks young Brexton has to work on certain aspects that will be crucial for him in the future.

While working as his crew chief during the 2024 Micro Sprint championship at Millbridge Speedway, he left Brexton with some advice. “You are only 9 years old. If you aren’t catching that guy, don’t freak out; keep yourself in the ball game. You don’t know what might happen at the final restart.” Busch’s words served as a reminder for young Brexton to keep patience, keep his head down and grab on opportunities that come in the race.

One can say Kyle Busch’s words also rang true just a few days later when the family was with Brexton at his karting debut. Things clearly didn’t go Brexton’s way with the last place finish, but remembering his parents’ words, Brexton kept at it. In the subsequent race, he managed an improved 12th place finish.
