Is the Kyle Busch contract saga finally coming to an end? In the pre-race interview with the #18 driver at Kansas Speedway, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver talked about his probable future with Richard Childress Racing in the 2023 season.
A physical altercation between Busch with the owner of RCR, Richard Childress took place about a decade ago following a Truck Series race at exactly the same Speedway where he gave the interview.
According to reports, the then 65-year-old owner, Childress, approached Busch after the race in the garage area and punched him several times after placing him in a headlock.

In a recent interview at Kansas, Jeff Gluck, the interviewer asked, “How did you even get to the point with Childress where you could consider driving for him after the moment here 11 years ago, the hold my watch thing, like how did you guys get to the point where you could even be civil, I guess?”
To which Busch responded, “Who’s to say he hasn’t punched me again?”
“In any of these conversations, whenever you go into negotiations, it’s never fun. So you’re duking the whole time. So yeah, no. I think you grow up and you work through things and you talk it over, really. It was fine the first time I sat down with him, everything was okay and biggest thing about it was just having the opportunity to kind of put that behind us.”
#18 driver also added, “No different thing than going on the Dale Jr download and talking about 2008 and crashing at Richmond. So just, you get through it and you talk about it and life moves on.”

He also stated an example from the feud which took place in 2008 with Dale Jr and how they came to a resolution with the incident. The NASCAR Cup Series driver gave a positive response in the interview. It’s proved now that he hashed the feud with the owner of RCR.
What really happened between Kyle Busch & Dale Earnhardt Jr?
The former Hendrick Motorsports driver on the finishing laps at Richmond raceway in 2008 went for a spin when he was battling the Joe Gibbs Racing driver for the lead. And this led to their rivalry.
Back in 2018, a decade-old feud between #18 and #88 driver came to a resolution when Kyle Busch showed up at the studio of Dale Jr’s podcast with a bunch of gifts. The Frenemies sat down and talked about the details of the 2008 Crown Royal Presents the Dan Lowry 400 at Richmond Raceway.
