Spire Motorsports new part-time driver for the #7 Chevy’ Silverado, Kyle Busch caused the first caution of the Fr8 208 Craftsman Truck Series Race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. With a handful of laps to go in stage 1, the #22 Ford for Reaume Brothers Racing spun to the infield as 42-year-old Alaskan native, Keith McGee tried to make a move on KFB’s #7 Truck on lap 16.

KFB has been giving pole-winner Daniel Dye good competition in the early stages of the race. Tyler Ankrum, the #18 Truck and teammate to Dye at McAnally-Hilgemann has also been running strong, hot at the heels of Busch and Dye in Stage 1. This return for Rowdy results in him leading 26 out of 27  starts in the Craftsman Truck Series. Consequently, after the sale of Kyle Busch Motorsports recently, the most successful team in Truck Series history, the Fr8 208 marks the first time Busch competes for another team, Spire Motorsports. Teammates Rajah Caruth and Chase Purdy have also been in contention for the top 15s in the early stages of the race.

In a race that has seen three caution flags waved all due to debris, the second race in the 2024 CTS season has already seen its share of ‘wreck-fest’ drama that has been associated with the competitive nature of the Truck Series. Moreover, Busch grabbed Stage 2. With the collective favorite running at the forefront for most of the Atlanta race, it will be interesting to see how his 171st race in the Craftsman Truck Series plays out.
