The conference was full of other announcements. For one of them the “Rowdy” Kyle Busch talked about his plans to follow his brother Kurt Busch and race in Indianapolis 500. In that presser, Busch said, “I can do it. Any Chevrolet intake teams, call me up.”
With that, he also said that his wife, Samantha, is also okay with this decision. And then took a dig at his #18 car’s boss, Joe Gibbs.
The current #18 driver stated, “The only guy that said no was my former boss.”

The shots fired by the two-time Cup Series champion at Joe Gibbs were because of the situation that took place back in 2017.
What happened with Kyle Busch in 2017?
So back in 2017, the JGR driver had a deal ready with the team and sponsorships for him to run in the 2017 Indianapolis 500. But all this fell apart when Joe Gibbs denied the #18 driver to take this step.
For Busch, this would have been a unique opportunity that was interceded by the owner of JGR. Being an accomplished driver in the NASCAR Cup Series. This new venture would have been amazing for the 37-years-old.
