Kyle Busch Singled Out as the NASCAR Driver Who Needs a Spotter Less Than Legends Kevin Harvick & Dale Jarrett

No one can deny that Kyle Busch is an extremely skilled and experienced driver. But just how much skill does he possess in racing? Well, turns out, he’s the driver that needs a spotter the least.

And this is a fact that Busch’s former spotter revealed recently.

In a recent episode of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s podcast, Door, Bumper, Clear! Brett Griffin, who spotted Busch for a few races in the past, revealed something fascinating about the #18 driver.

Griffin said, “Of all the guys I’ve spotted for in my career. And we’re talking Kevin Harvick, Dale Jarrett, Greg Biffle, Michael Waltrip, Elliott Sadler, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, I can keep going…”

“Kyle Busch needed a spotter less than any other driver I’ve worked with.”

“He was making moves, and I was like, ‘uh yeah dude,you clear, you good'”

This is a clear depiction of the skill Busch has driving a stock car. Of course, it comes with a lot of experience too. But being able to make the right moves without a spotter, whose job is to look out for you, is a skill. Especially considering the limited view of a driver inside a stock car.

Still, it’s essential for a NASCAR driver to have a spotter. So, whose Busch’s real spotter?

Who Spots For Kyle Busch?

Brett Griffin did spot for Kyle, but only for a few races. But that might make you wonder, who is the official spotter of the #18 car? Well, it sure is someone very special to the driver.

The guiding voice in Kyle’s ears was Jeff Dickerson initially, who is actually Busch’s agent. But it seems they had a great run together. In fact, Busch credits Dickerson for one of his wins at the 2009 Gatorade Duel at Daytona.

“He won the race,” Busch said of his spotter. “It was awesome with Jeff, having him on the radio – always is. It was a great race.”

But of course, his agent can’t be his spotter forever.

Eventually, Busch found the perfect pair of eyes for his car in Tony Hirschman. And the rest is history. Hirschman guided the #18 car for the Championship win in 2015 and 2019.

But what matters is Busch found the man for the job and he sure seems happy with his spotter. Now, the only thing that Kyle needs is a sponsor for the next season.
