The SRX Series event at Pulaski County Motorsports Park turned out to be the most action-packed and crash-filled race in the Superstar Racing Experience’s three-year history. Despite the five-car pileup chaos, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Kyle Busch, emerged victorious, leaving some of his competitors understandably upset.

Nevertheless, nothing could hinder Busch from claiming his first SRX Cup. When questioned by a reporter about his plans for the next race at Richmond and whether he aims to complete a Virginia sweep, much like his incredible achievement in 2010, when he won three national races in one week.

Completing the trifecta, Kyle Busch candidly responded, “I’d like to; that’d be nice. We’ve had some really good runs, and Richmond’s a strong track for me, so looking forward to going there

While basking in the glory of his first SRX Cup race win, it’s evident that Kyle Busch’s primary objective remains the NASCAR Cup Series. With three wins under his belt, he currently stands confidently in the 5th position in the playoff standings, despite finishing 21st at the Pocono race. Now that he has regained some momentum with the SRX debut race triumph, he hopes to employ the same winning strategies and clinch victory at Richmond.

In the midst of the most crash-filled spectacle in SRX series history, the race took a dramatic turn with a touch of controversy. In a daring maneuver on Lap 57, Kyle Busch took a leap of faith, running below Brad Keselowski on the track, propelling Keselowski to the back of the pack. Unbeknownst to Keselowski, SRX drivers lack spotters in their ears, making him oblivious to Busch’s audacious move.

Reflecting on the incident, Busch remarked, “I don’t think he knew I was there. I had a nose in there, and I’m there. I got a nose to his door, and we came together. Definitely a product of the spotters.”

Even in the post-race interview, when discussing the contact, Busch admitted, “I wasn’t really even thinking- it was time to pass him yet. I was still going to save and wait for a little bit to be able to get a run, but I got to run on them out of four. And I’m like, Well, damn okay, I’ll take it, you know, and so I got up alongside his door, getting into turn 1, and we made contact. He tried to turn down and get back to the bottom groove, and I was already there.”

Keselowski swiftly left the track and remained inaccessible for any comments, since the incident might have reminded him of the Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway, where Busch admitted to intentionally wrecking Keselowski; except, it seems this time intentional wrecking wasn’t the case.

This incident unfolded right before the watchful eyes of three-time Cup Series champion and series co-founder- Tony Stewart, who agreed that the absence of spotters played a pivotal role in the mishap.

Looking forward to Cup Series, in his debut season with RCR, Busch’s performance has been nothing short of remarkable, already securing three wins. However, with only five races remaining before the playoffs, he may need to push harder and clinch an additional victory to ensure a spot among the final four.
