Let’s be honest. Every NASCAR fan has thought about it. With races spanning as long as four hours or more, it is obvious that many people wonder about what the bathroom situation for drivers in NASCAR races is like. Addressing the curiosity surrounding the matter, NASCAR drivers Bubba Wallace and Kyle Busch recently opened up about the unfiltered mechanisms behind the scenes.
In a recent interview with actor Kal Penn, Bubba Wallace revealed that high adrenaline usually helps drivers to forget about it all. However, the 23XI Racing driver further added, “And they always say, if you do pee in the car, then you gotta be there Monday morning to clean it out. You want to clean it out? […] They are not going to do it.”

For anyone wondering if NASCAR drivers actually relieve themselves in cars, then yes, that’s true. But don’t worry, there are more people out there who find “going” in the car to be problematic—Kyle Busch being one of them.
Kyle Busch’s honest admission shocked podcast hosts
During his appearance in The Residency Podcast, Jeff Tomastik asked Busch about the bathroom situation in NASCAR. To this, Busch replied, “Some guys do it. I can’t do it.” The fact that Busch does not feel the need to relieve his bladder even after spending five and a half hours on the track surprised everyone on the set.
However, the Richard Childress Racing driver explained, “I have to dehydrate before a race in order to make sure that I make it through the race. I drink during the race, not before the race.”

But circling back to Busch’s “Some guys do it” comment, Drew Belcher urged Busch to confirm his suspicions. He asked Busch if his words really meant that the drivers urinate their pants. Admitting that he got it right, Busch said, “They p*ss in their car; they p*ss in their seat, while they’re driving.”

When nature’s call almost got the better of Kyle Busch
Though Kyle Busch hasn’t relieved himself during a race in his career, he did come close to doing it once. During the conversation, Busch reminisced about an incident during his rookie year. He shared, “I mean there was a race…so, I was a rookie. It was my rookie year. It was the third race of the year at Atlanta Motor Speedway—it’s a 500-mile race. This race is like four hours long and there was a red flag on lap three.

“So, we’re all sitting there on the race track because there was a big crash and they’re cleaning it up and whatever and I’m like ‘I gotta go to the bathroom. Like, you guys think I can get out and go to the bathroom?’
“And they are like ‘No bro. You’re sitting over there on the front stretch. Unless you drive into the pits and then you get out of your car like we’ll have to go restart back at the back of the pack.'”
But since Busch was somewhere around the 12th position at the time, he thought that it wasn’t a good idea to leave his position. However, later during the race, he almost did it. He revealed, “There was a caution, another caution later in the race, probably 300 miles in, like I’m just like scrunching as hard as I can to try to p*ss myself and it won’t come out.
“I can’t do it.”
