Kyle Busch in a Joe Gibbs Racing attire was a phenomenon. With 56 victories, 15 seasons, and two Cup Series championships, the stats reveal it all. If anything, Rowdy left the JGR team with fond memories and many trophies and winning purses. But now, talking about the 2023 season, things may turn out a little differently.

When JGR and Busch parted ways due to sponsorship troubles, Richard Childress Racing came knocking to avail his services. However, there is one thing that Busch still looks back on, the one thing that has remained constant over time. And that is Busch’s dominant performance at Pocono Raceway. He speaks about the same as he recalls some memorable moments at JGR and further goes on to address his way to tackle adversity on the track.

Coming into RCR, Busch immediately made an impact. With two wins this season, he has begun to shift the focus on their team. Mr. Childress and his team have arguably lost a good deal of firepower as a powerhouse of the sport. But Busch may have a significant role in reviving that.

In the presser ahead of the New Hampshire race, he was asked, “Looking ahead to next week, youve won three of the last eight races at Pocono RacewayWhy do you seem to be so tuned into that trackand do you enjoy the challenge of a track that you just cant be perfect all the way around?”

Busch has shown his multiple years of experience at the track, with a great record to back his achievements. Describing his memorable moments and a great experience at the track with Joe Gibbs’ team, he explains the distinguishing factor for JGR, “Yeah, well none of us are perfect all the way around. The Pocono (Raceway) thing really started in about 2014. “

Speaking about his dynamic with team president Dave Alpern, he adds, “Dave and I finally kind of hit on something that was working for us. And then in 2015 with Adam, it really came together and we were really fast there ever since 2015. That was obviously with the JGR guys and so it will be interesting to see if it translates with me with the RCR group – being able to go to Pocono (Raceway) next week with our Chevrolet and be fast.”

One of the major points that Busch conveys in his statements is his affinity and synchronization with the Joe Gibbs Racing crew. Life in a Camaro hasn’t been bad for him either. Busch in the Next-gen car for the #8 team has been quite impressive this season. Busch can very much turn the season around with a championship win and bring good times for his team, which has been out of form for the past few years.

Kyle Busch’s record at the Pocono Raceway speaks for itself. A winner for three consecutive years (2017-2019) and 2021, he has got quite the history. But to maintain the form at a track every year meant Busch had to keep tweaking his approach to races.

Explaining the same additions to driving style, he said, “But the biggest thing to me is – I don’t know, I kind of changed my driving style at the race track just a little bit around that same time frame and I’ve kind of stuck to my guns on that.

If there’s one thing you’d associate Busch with is his prowess as a no-nonsense driver. It might have earned him many rivals, but it has helped him stay at the top of the sport for years now.

Talking about the current situation of Pocono and how it could fare for the cars, he added, “The track is also just starting to get its age because it got repaved in 2010 or ’11, something like that, so you know it’s really kind of coming into its own now. It’s pretty bumpy again. It’s lost a lot of grip again. So it lends itself to being able to widen out a little bit, which is always nice at those big, high-speed, flat tracks. You want to be able to find your own air and get out of the wake.”

The raceway has been flagged for bumps quite a lot of times. The bumps on the tunnel turn at Pocono, are a well-known obstacle for the drivers. The re-pavement that the track underwent did provide its specialties by enabling record speeds.
