After Kyle’s exceptional second-place finish in Sonoma, During an interview, Kyle Busch was asked his thoughts on his elder brother’s prestigious award. The RCR driver said, “It’s really neat to have Kurt be part of that and hopefully one day obviously me be a part of that. You know growing up in Vegas, two little punk kids and making a big time with not lot of money, just a lot of talent and certainly really special.”

Later, Kyle’s words grabbed everyone’s attention as he shared his brother’s regret about not being able to continue racing in the Cup series. “It’s been fun to see [Kurt getting an award] that although I’m sure he kind of wished he could run out the rest of his time in the Cup career as he wanted to, but I think he has made a lot of the right decisions here in all of that so it’s good to see him rewarded for his time spent here in NASCAR,” he said.

NASCAR has implemented several rule changes this year, and one alteration was the elimination of Stage cautions from road courses. This modification has resulted in cautions during races and impacted drivers in various ways, as highlighted by Hamlin in his post-race interview.

He started, “Pace fall of things like that […] I mean you would always jump the stages and then you’d have the cautions and you’d have to go back green all that stuff, so I feel like making it all more traditional Road Course Race lends itself to and we kind of saw at COTA too, where there was actually a lot of cautions.

“Maybe guys kind of new or felt pressure of if it gets to strong out, there’s no chance for me to keep closed up and they’ll create they’ll run into somebody and create yellow. So that could certainly sometimes be the case as well here at Sonoma. (…)it makes it a lot tougher to try to come from the back without restarts.”
