Kyle Busch’s name is almost a given on the NASCAR winners list every season. For nearly two decades, the two-time Cup Series champion found victory lane at least once each year. These wins cemented his place as one of the sport’s most consistent and dominant drivers. But 2024 told a different story. For the first time in 19 years, Busch went winless in the NASCAR Cup Series, a stunning turn of events for a driver of his caliber.

Now, after a challenging year, Busch is setting his sights on a familiar yet fresh challenge—returning to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with Spire Motorsports, hoping to reignite his winning ways and find the magic that’s been missing. Busch already holds the record for most wins in the Truck Series with 66 to his name, a part of his 231 victories across NASCAR’s three national series, the most all-time. Can his return to the Truck Series spark a revival in form?

Kyle Busch looks to Trucks to find his mojo

Kyle Busch’s Daytona 500 result in 2025, a 34th-place finish after a lap 186 crash, was a frustrating reminder of the hurdles he faced throughout his recent seasons. It continued the trend of tough breaks on the track. However, his return to the Truck Series represents a fresh start. His relationship with Spire Motorsports is a pivotal factor in his return, with the team providing him a chance to rebuild and refocus.

His connection with the team runs deep. Busch has worked closely with crew chief Brian Pattie, on his road to record-number wins. Then, Spire Motorsports acquired Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) in September 2023, as they expanded into the Truck Series.

Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson expressed his excitement for Kyle Busch’s return to the team, saying, “I’m thankful to have Kyle back with our NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series team this year.” He further emphasized the impact of having Busch on board, stating, “Having one of the best drivers in NASCAR history in our equipment and in our shop makes everyone better.” The value of Busch’s experience and leadership is not lost on Dickerson, and his return is expected to lift the team’s performance.

Busch himself echoed these sentiments. He shared his enthusiasm about returning to the Truck Series and working with Spire Motorsports once again. “With my long-standing relationship with Jeff (Dickerson) and having a lot of my former employees still working on the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series teams at Spire Motorsports, it’s cool to be able to hop back in their Chevy Silverados five times and work towards filling those trophy cases,” Busch remarked.

Not all reactions, however, have been filled with praise. Some fans were taken aback by Rowdy’s choice of tracks, especially his participation in races like Watkins Glen. One fan commented, “Watkins Glen with trucks? I’m expecting it might be a bloodfest,” a sentiment shared by others who are unsure about the combination of truck racing on a road course. Busch has also never raced in the Truck Series at Watkins Glen, which may indicate that he is attempting to challenge himself to find that fire in his belly that took him to victory lane so often.

While the list of tracks is quite diverse, one fan was notably disappointed that Busch didn’t choose to race in his hometown Las Vegas. The fan lamented, “NO VEGASS??!!!!.” With such a wide array of fan reactions, it’s clear that Kyle Busch’s return to the Truck Series has stirred mixed emotions. As fans eagerly await his first race of the season, the question remains: How will Busch’s participation in the Truck Series affect the outcome of the 2025 Cup Series?
