While the Daytona 500 is undoubtedly the most prestigious of all NASCAR races, the Indianapolis stop is no less special. Treating fans to the regular spectacle of NASCAR’s Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series races, the Brickyard also fields IndyCar races on the same weekend. Known as the Indy Doubleheader, the weekend spectacle even had 2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button suggesting F1 should hold similar races on its weekends.
As the racing community geared up for the Verizon 200, NASCAR’s Indianapolis journey also highlighted a major partnership between Hendrick Motorsports and IndyCar’s Arrow McLaren. While Kyle Larson‘s Indy 500 debut once again became the talk of the town, Kyle Busch, on the other hand, was left hoping.

Mr. H. sealed the deal with Arrow McLaren
Many team owners are apprehensive about letting their drivers participate in other racing formats on off days, but Rick Hendrick has a different approach. Mr. H isn’t stopping his drivers from competing in other formats of racing. He instead endorses his divers’ part-time endeavors and, with Kyle Larson in his arsenal of drivers, who can blame him?
Having made a name for himself in the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, Truck Series, 410 Sprint Cars, Dirt Super Late Models, and even midgets, Yung Money’s thirst for racing was unquenched.
With the prestigious Indy 500 in his sights, Larson approached Mr. H with the proposal for a shot at the race. Intrigued by the idea, Rick Hendrick jumped on the Indy bandwagon, securing Larson a spot in the 2024 Indy 500 with Arrow McLaren, a team that is part of the $740,000,000 worth McLaren Group.
As per The Race, during a media availability earlier this year, Mr. H said, “I think if you’re a racer, and on your bucket list, if you can be a part of or even have an entry in the Indy 500, that’s a huge deal. Kyle told me he wanted to do it…I know it’s a tall order to talk about trying to win it. But I look at the McLaren team, they know they’re winners. And Kyle’s a winner.”
His thoughts regarding IndyCar were echoed by his former driver, Kyle Busch. Hoping he too could bag a ride for the Indy 500, Busch saw Larson live out his IndyCar dreams.

For Kyle Busch, a chance to compete in the prestigious Indy 500 is a box on his bucket list that he hopes to check soon. And this past week, he was so close, yet so far in doing that. Arriving at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Kyle Busch got a taste of what his IndyCar dreams could look like.
As it happened, Rowdy was driven around the road course by his friend and IndyCar legend, Tony Kanaan. Not given the opportunity to drive the car himself, Rowdy, in an interview with IndyCar, said, “I’ve kind of always said I’d love to give it a shot and have that opportunity to be able to get out there. Obviously… Indy road course is vastly different than the oval, but still to get my hands and feet and everything else behind the wheel and maybe go make some laps would certainly be neat.”
