Kyle Busch is gearing up for another double duty this week at Bristol Motor Speedway, starting with the Weather Guard Truck Race on Saturday and the Food City 500 Cup Series Race on Sunday. This will be Rowdy’s 171st Truck Series event since his debut in 2001 at IRP. Although his Bristol record has been almost spotless, coming into this race week, Kyle Busch stands at 25 races without a win in the Cup Series. He trails Joey Logano and Chase Elliott as the active champions, who are also in a clean-slate slump. Hence, when Elliott walked in on Rowdy’s press conference, the two champions shared a moment of comedic camaraderie before their bids to cancel their losing fortunes at Bristol.

This amused KB, as he pointed out #9, saying, “There’s the man. You’ll talk to him next,” finding ways to get an early release from his pre-race press conference duties at Bristol.
Elliott, it seemed, had other plans, rejecting Busch’s suggestions to the media, as he hilariously said, “Nah, not me. I’m going to the bathroom.” This drew waves of laughter across the Bristol media center, and Rowdy had the perfect answer for Elliott, as he wished him, “Good luck. I hope it comes out alright.”

To which the 28-year-old Georgia native casually replied, “Me too.” With both champs hoping to bite back on critics with a statement victory on Sunday, it does indeed look like the duo could use some of that “luck.”

The 2024 NASCAR season finally heads to Busch’s stomping grounds in Bristol, but this time on repaved concrete. It is important to note that his last Cup victory at the 0.533-mile circuit came during the three years of the “Dirt” experiment, with his emphatic 2022 victory still echoing in the ears of Rowdy fans worldwide.
However, the last time he would drive first past the finishing line on concrete at Bristol was his 2017 victory at the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race.

On the other hand, his Truck Series “re-start” with Spire Motorsports, after the sale of his beloved KBM, has been bearing steady fruit for Busch’s double-duty attempts this year, as he won his 65th CTS victory in Atlanta a few weeks prior. But with 19 consecutive seasons at the highest level and at least one victory in the NCS, could this finally be the year KB breaks his historic streak?
