Multiple NASCAR Cup Series drivers including Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson have cut ties with their long time helmet designer Beam Designs. The move came after a spree of social media posts from the helmet designer went viral for the wrong reason.
The company criticized NASCAR publicly on Twitter for their decision to ban the display of the Confederate flag at races. Earlier, Beam Designs wasn’t very happy with the series’s actions against social injustice.
The company tweeted, “The Confederate Flag, North vs South in the Civil War, a war over separation of the Union, not slavery. But hey ignorance wins again, NASCAR you realize the North had slaves too, lol not just the South, you want to remove the American Flag as well, idiots.”. The company deleted the tweet after a major backlash.
