NASCAR fans have witnessed many successful father-son duos in the past years. Be it Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr, or Kyle Petty and Richard Petty, it’s always been a fascinating one on-track. Now, what could be Kyle Busch’s plans for his son, Brexton’s NASCAR entry?
Busch has been pretty much sure about expanding his legacy racing. His nine-year-old son Brexton had already shown his potential by winning the Golden Driller at Tulsa Shootout in 2025. Racing is in his blood, though! Brexton’s grandfather, Tom Busch, racked up numerous racing victories, followed by his Uncle Kurt Busch, a NASCAR champion- no wonder he’s already making a name for himself at 9 years old.
Brexton’s career has been heavily influenced by his father, the two-time NASCAR champion who has taken the role of crew chief after selling off KBM to Spire Motorsports in 2023. But despite the sale, the real Kyle Busch Motorsports was still brewing behind the scenes as Rowdy was preparing his son to follow in his footsteps. B-Rex has influenced his father, as he was seen competing on dirt track during the off-season. Rowdy even made his Chili Bowl debut this year and ran a couple of other events to keep himself sharp before NASCAR racing began.

Fans were anticipating that sometime in future, they might see Busch and Brexton compete against each other in the same event. But no one expected that the RCR star would do so this year. The Rowdy Nation fans will be treated to father-son in action at the Millbridge Raceway on March 26.
Fans just saw the wholesome interaction between the father and son today on X. Busch gave a reply post on the young man’s note on X which said, “Can’t wait to kick my dad’s butt.” The two-time NASCAR Cup champion, Daddy Busch responded, “You don’t want the smoke pal. Hope you’re ready to rip the fence,”
Brexton will be racing at Millbridge Speedway in North Carolina on Wednesday for their initial head-to-head competition. Kyle Busch was joined on stage by his nine-year-old son to announce the upcoming race on Wednesday, March 26.

Millbridge’s Wednesday lineup consists of 600 Micros (including both Winged and Non-Winged), Restricted Micros, Intermediates, and Buggy competitors. Brexton is anticipated to compete in the restricted micro class, given their prior experience in similarly restricted divisions, despite the absence of an official entry list. Both father and son simultaneously posted the announcement at 6:51 p.m. Eastern Time, and also at 18:51 military time, indicating the number of their two cars that would be racing.
The No. 18 is the iconic JGR race car which Rowdy drove and in which he bagged his two championship wins. No. 51 also held a special place in his heart as this was the number he used to race with at KBM in the Craftsman Truck Series. We all know that Kyle Busch always dodges the question about his retirement, stating that he will hang his boots when Brexton is of age and competes in NASCAR. And he’s prepared a road map which he feels is essential for his son to break through at NASCAR.

Kyle Busch wants Brexton to be like Kyle Larson
Gone are the days when drivers only needed to perfect the art of racing on traditional oval asphalt or concrete tracks. Being good at one discipline isn’t the formula for success in the modern era. Take a look at current star drivers like Kyle Larson or Christopher Bell; these guys are versatile and have the ability to excel in different styles of racing, not just stock cars.
At 39, Rowdy, the old dog, isn’t too keen on learning new tricks, but when it comes to his son, he ensures he gets the right exposure. “I feel like a mixture of both, and he will be good in anything. A lot of guys like Larson grew up with dirt, and he is great at the dirt stuff, obviously, and he is great at the NASCAR stuff. I just feel like if we mix a little bit of the dirt and a little bit of the pavement right now, you can do anything.” Busch said this in an interview with Flo Racing.

Busch is also open to the idea of Brexton turning into a full-time sprint car racer. But right now the end goal is NASCAR. “When he turns 16 which path do you wanna go? Do you wanna stay in the dirt world and run sprint cars or modified or late models or do you wanna go to NASCAR and right now NASCAR is the end goal, so you gotta have some pavement stuff right now.”
Well, if everything goes to plan, and Brexton is 16, we might see a 45-year-old Kyle Busch race against his son in the Truck Series. Now, those who say that is not possible, wait a minute, Denny Hamlin at 44 is still going strong and given Rowdy’s legacy he can extend his stay even if it’s not on full-time basis.
