Richard Childress Racing star Kyle Busch usually would be chilling and spending time with his family during the off-season. However, this time around he’s set his eyes on making his debut at the Chili Bowl Nationals. For long, Busch had stuck by just stock car racing, but he’s now eager to test his skills on the dirt track, which started with his USAC Nationals Midget debut at Bakersfield.
His next assignment will be at the Ventura Raceway, California, competing alongside Ty Gibbs and Kyle Larson. But, despite his packed racing schedule, he managed to take some time out and was enjoying the company of his wife and two kids on a beach.

The NASCAR season certainly takes a toll on the drivers. While the job of a race car driver looks tempting, they have to make a lot of sacrifices. Being on the road to a new city away from family is perhaps the toughest of them all. For Kyle Busch, the 2024 season hasn’t been a rewarding one, and he figured the best way to phase out of that slump was to keep himself engaged in some kind of activity. And what better way to keep your mind busy than racing itself? Therefore, Rowdy hopped on the dirt racing mission.
Unlike NASCAR dirt racing, which isn’t taxing or demanding, it allows the drivers to be at ease and get their dose of racing. This can also turn into a short vacation outing, something Kyle Busch has managed to do ahead of his race at Ventura Raceway. The entire Busch family—Kyle, his son Brexton, his wife Samantha, and little munchkin Lennix—were able to enjoy the sunset on a California beach.
Taking to X, Rowdy shared the photos with a caption, “To no one’s surprise, our life on the road has led us to Cali to race. No matter where we are, I’m just thankful to be with these turkeys.🦃” As always, Samantha Busch also took to her social media account, Instagram, and provided an update on her family’s west coast trip, “Life on the west coast ❤️.”

Needless to say, Rowdy will need to get his head back on his racing as he will be going against some talented racers at Ventura Speedway. Moreover, he will be eager to make a good comeback after his disappointing debut run at Bakersfield Speedway.

Rowdy’s debut USAC National race didn’t turn out like he had planned. Starting the event, he made a good start, qualifying 18th out of the 36 entries. He even fired off well in his heat race and took an early lead, but after leading two laps, his midget car lost power, and just like that, his run on the day ended prematurely. He tried his luck in the semi-final rounds, but lady luck wasn’t on his side, as he missed out on advancing to the main event by a single position, finishing 5th.

Multiple NASCAR drivers competing in the same racing event in the off-season is indeed a rare sight. The fans turning up at Ventura Raceway will be able to catch a glimpse of not only Kyle Busch but also Kyle Larson and Ty Gibbs. Larson is not new to dirt racing, and he has a packed schedule of dirt racing events until the end of this year. However, the big surprise is Ty Gibbs, as his grandfather Joe Gibbs, for the first time in two years, has lifted the ban on his drivers to participate in non-NASCAR races.
There is a possibility that all three of them might line up at the Chili Bowl Nationals in January as well. All the fans who were feeling low without races on the weekend finally have something to cheer on this off-season.
