It is a heated environment in NASCAR right now. With NASCAR dropping a bombshell with the penalties after Phoenix, there is a different energy to the sport right now. Having said that, this is the perfect environment for Kyle Busch to thrive upon. Well, he sure didn’t waste time capitalizing on it. The Richard Childress Racing driver recently slammed his bitter rival, Joey Logano, while giving a small piece of advice to Denny Hamlin on his $50,000 penalty.

The Busch-Logano rivalry is one of the most intense ones in the NASCAR Cup Series history. Both racers can’t help but have a go at each other time and again. This time though, Rowdy taunted him subtly while getting blunt with Hamlin.

NASCAR penalized Hamlin for openly admitting to wrecking Ross Chastain on purpose on his podcast. They considered the incident at Phoenix Raceway as an intentional act to manipulate the outcome of the race. It was certainly not a wise call from the Joe Gibbs Racing driver to have said such things in such a public domain.

Recently, Kyle Busch spoke to Frontstretch before the Atlanta race. When asked about his reaction to the Hamlin penalty, the 37-year-old bluntly said, “Keep your mouth shut.” Clearly, the 2023 Auto Club 400 winner believes being silent on the incident would have been the best decision for the 23XI Racing co-owner.

But Busch didn’t stop there. He said, “That’s what Logano did when he wrecked me in 2017. That was on purpose, but didn’t admit it.”

Obviously, this took him back to the infamous incident at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2017. The wounds from the past haven’t healed yet for the RCR driver. These statements are a tad bit surprising given how he recently spent a long time with Joey Logano on a flight.

Given the animosity between Logano and Busch, it is difficult to digest the fact that they traveled together not long ago. While speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio recently, the defending Cup Series champion shared the details of their travel.

The duo, along with some of the fellow drivers, traveled together to Vegas in a chartered flight. It was then that they sat next to each other. Logano said, “It’s been interesting [traveling in the chartered flight] you know, but it’s been fun. I sat next to Kyle Busch shoulder-to-shoulder for five hours on the way to Vegas. How about that?” What he said next was extremely hilarious.

The Team Penske driver said, “We talked it out. I think we are okay. I had my nice face on. We were okay.” Logano sure has a great sense of humor. It just makes one wonder how great it would have been had he and Busch gotten along. The mixture of humor and cockiness would have been deadly.
