During a podcast conversation with Joey Logano, fellow driver Corey LaJoie asked, “You were similar to Kyle Busch, his current season of life where he more or less without putting any fluff on it got fired from JGR. You had some Xfinity offers to go run for JGR. Obviously Cup Series talent, you wanna stay in the Cup Series, the 22 became available, so you made the move.”
“When you view Kyle Busch’s scenario making teh jump to RCR this year, hitting the reset button on his career after 15 years at Gibbs. What is some of the insights that you can give to the listeners that they probably don’t understand watching it and just judging Kyle’s actions over the last couple of months?”
Logano responded by saying, “Yeah there are some similarities but there’s also a lot of things different because when I look at my situation I was four years into my career I was losing my job because I wasn’t good on the racetrack and I had a great opportunity at Team Penske and everything worked out obviously for the best.”
“But that being said, going through my own contract negotiations since then, just went through one right and announced that deal. And it’s a distraction. You can’t tell me it’s not and that’s with a team that you know, people you know, and the sponsors are set you have all the things figured out.”
Joey Logano recently inked a fresh contract extension with Team Penske
After his tumultuous times with JGR, he finally found a home at Team Penske. However, it has been around 10 years since then. In the latest turn of events, Penske announced that they had signed a contract extension with Joey Logano.
