It’s no secret that, while NASCAR has its success stories and heroes, the anti-heroes that have gained notoriety throughout the years for their driving style or character on the track have created some of NASCAR’s most intense moments. And naturally, when such personalities run into each other, there’s going to be a lot more than just a friendly handshake. This is exactly how Joey Logano and Kyle Busch’s relationship has unfolded over the years.
From being budding teammates at Joe Gibbs Racing who were carrying NASCAR into a new generation of younger races to sworn enemies after the infamous 2017 Las Vegas incident during the Kobalt 400, fans have witnessed rising tension between two of NASCAR’s most controversial drivers currently. But even after over five years since Busch and Logano traded blows, it seems the wounds from the Las Vegas race are yet to heal for Kyle Busch.

When Joey Logano was thrown into the world of Cup Series competition at the young age of 18, the community immediately took notice of the unusual path that had been paved for Joey Logano to reach the premier series. At a time when ‘pay’ drivers who brought in major sponsorship deals were rarely preferred over raw talent, Logano seemed like the perfect poster child for fans to make fun of owing to his unconventional rise.
And it seemed like drivers too were giving the young racer a hard time during his formative years. From Kevin Harvick dumping Logano repeatedly until the rookie learned to fight for himself to the constant boos, he has certainly faced the brunt of the community’s frustration. And while his on-track aggression is rarely visible in his off-track charitable character, it hasn’t changed Kyle Busch’s opinion one bit.
Taking to Instagram, Busch shared that he was driving to Florida with his family, creating a great opportunity to answer some questions that fans might have. One such question that came up surrounds Busch’s favorite and least favorite driver that he’s ever raced against. Although he has nothing but praise for the man who inspired him to race while Busch was growing up, Jeff Gordon, the case was far different for Joey Logano.
Reflecting on the least favorite driver he’s had to race against, Kyle Busch pulled no punches as he stated, “I would say, Joey, for sure. He just drives really good out of his rear window and not so much out of his front window.” Speaking of which, Joey Logano’s aggressive battle with Ty Gibbs at the Clash at the Coliseum was certainly a reminder of the Busch vs. Logano fight in Las Vegas, as the pair got into a heated confrontation once after the race.

During an episode of eNews’ digital series, “DRIVE!” Joey Logano was asked a question revolving around his Cup Series competition: “If you had to pick one driver to race against for the rest of your career, who would it be?” So while many would have guessed several drivers other than Kyle Busch, Logano’s revelation was rather unexpected!
Logano stated, “Kyle Busch and I don’t get along really well, but I do enjoy racing him, and I enjoy the battle we have back and forth. So, I’d probably pick him.” After all, even with all the bad blood between the two, it was the pair together that led Joe Gibbs Racing and NASCAR’s modern era.
