Ross Chastain has been the subject of discussion quite a few times in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season. With his questionable involvement in multiple wrecks in this campaign, he’s most certainly not getting away from the spotlight. More so, after his brawl with Noah Gragson at Kansas last Sunday. Surprisingly, Kyle Busch offered him some words of wisdom, but it seems it has fallen on deaf ears.

The relationship between Busch and Chastain hasn’t always been the best. However, being the senior personality, the Richard Childress Racing driver tried to help out the #1 driver. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out well and has enraged the two-time Cup Series champion.

Without a doubt, the talk of the town is still the scuffle between Ross Chastain and Noah Gragson at Kansas Speedway. While the fistfight was unexpected, it was sooner or later coming given how Cup Series drivers have been unhappy with Chastain’s style of driving this season. However, Kyle Busch tried to be the bigger person and help Chastain, but it seems to have failed.

Apparently, Busch gave some valuable advice to Chastain after his incident with Kevin Harvick at Darlington in 2018. With less than 45 laps in the Xfinity Series race, both Harvick and Chastain were side-by-side when the latter’s car was sent into the wall as Harvick’s car slid up.

In retaliation, the then Chip Ganassi Racing driver came back and hit Harvick in the right rear, spinning him. In fact, this was not the only incident he was involved at Darlington. He crashed last year at the same venue after wrecking underneath Denny Hamlin.

Speaking about Chastain at the Darlington press conference on Saturday, Busch said, “Yeah, I talked to him [Chastain] I think it was either after the Darlington thing with (Kevin) Harvick here or his next one after that. He asked me a couple of questions and I talked to him about it.” The Joe Gibbs Racing driver then offered a simple six-word advice, “Don’t be the headline every week“.

While Busch demanded Chastain to not go hard every week, he looked utterly disappointed with the Trackhouse Racing driver not paying heed to his advice. He said, “Like those two–whether Harvick won or Chastain–he would have looked a hell of a lot better finishing second to Harvick than he did with a crashed car here at Darlington. So yeah, no he hasn’t learned.”

“He hasn’t listened to anybody and I’m sure there’s more than me that have tried to talk to him. I’m not sure what that is. I don’t know that guy. Don’t need to know the guy.” Clearly, Busch is unhappy there, and it remains to see what happens on the track at Darlington.

However, it comes as a surprise how Kevin Harvick has recently reacted to the Kansas incident. Shockingly, he has sided with Chastain.

Speaking with Kenny Wallace on ‘The Kenny Conversation’, Harvick supported Chastain’s actions. He said, “Ross gets a lot of grief but he didn’t do nothing there, he was just standing next to his car and the guy [Gragson] came down and he told him twice, he said stop, stop and then he just pounded him.”
