It would be the second time when NASCAR makes its trip to St.Louis to run at the World Wide Technology Raceway. The track has posed a challenge for the drivers along with their teams, owing to its low banking. The track had also witnessed eight wreckages and the subsequent portrayal of yellow flags.
Nevertheless, with the qualifiers over ahead of the race on Sunday, it was the Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch who secured the pole position for the Enjoy Illinois 300. Along with him in the front row sits the Coca-Cola 600 champion Ryan Blaney from Team Penske.
Busch is clearly pumped up after winning the pole position as it provides him with a vantage point over others. But before he races WWT Raceway, Busch’s past wounds from Nashville are re-opened during the pre-race interview.

At this Rowdy Busch retorted, “Yeah, looking forward to Nashville. It was one that I felt did get away from us. We were really good through much of the race. We actually had trouble in qualifying: had to start in the back and drove through the field. We got up to the end got up to the lead,”
He added, “We led for a little bit, and then out of nowhere, Chase Elliott and the No.9 team came on really strong there the second half of the race and were able to get by us. They were better than us there at the end. I just wish we were able to adjust on our car to keep the speed that we needed when it got to true nighttime so that we were able to prevail.”
“But just don’t work out for us there-we pitted late, took tires and that was able absolutely not worth it. We didn’t make up any ground on that last restart.”
The 2x Cup Series champion also asserted the fact, “So would definitely would like to go back there and change fortunes with that. Thankfully, I’m with the No.8 Chevy team this year, where we can look at some of what the No.9 was doing and what they did to make their stuff better and go from there.”
