The 2023 season so far has undoubtedly been thrilling. While the recent race at the iconic North Wilkesboro Speedway saw mixed responses from the community, the speedway races have been a sight to behold, especially the ones in Kansas and Talladega. With twists and dramatic incidents all the way to the end of almost every race, the Cup season is picking up pace.
And ahead of this week’s speedway race in Charlotte, Kyle Busch pointed toward a rather interesting aspect of his fellow Chevy driver, Kyle Larson. Speaking to the media ahead of the race, Busch reflected on the “insane” part of the HMS Speedster’s 2023 resume.
As the Richard Childress Racing driver disclosed an exceptional aspect of the fellow dirt expert’s performance and uncovered a triple-digit feat by the Hendrick Motorsports driver, he also talked about a fun outing with his son, Brexton.

Kyle Busch reveals the envious aspect of Kyle Larson’s 2023 season ahead of his Charlotte run
Despite his disappointing venture at the returning North Wilkesboro track, the community identified RCR’s #8 car as the culprit behind his lackluster performance. The #8 Chevy struggled to gain momentum and the frustration was evident on the driver’s face. Moreover, Larson’s dominating victory may have brought out a bold admission from Rowdy.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, Busch revealed the “insane” aspect about the #5 driver while poking lighthearted fun at Larson. While Busch is slowly moving away from dirt races, Larson on the other hand is the current dirt expert on the roster.
Reflecting on this aspect, the reporter asked an interesting question to which the 38-year-old said, “Yeah, I mean that’s just kind of it, right? Like (Kyle) Larson, I think he’s going to run 100 shows this year, and that’s just insane. I think I’m only going to be about 20.”
Even as he praised the #5 driver, Rowdy didn’t miss the opportunity for a quick jab. He acknowledged the “key partner relationship” between the teams on the Chevy side and also the Charlotte track being fairly new to the RCR car, saying, “I would just hope that the sim stuff that we did as well as the sheets that we were able to see, the notes that we’re able to see from the Hendrick guys and what not and what they’ve done ’cause Kyle [Larson] tested here. Tiny Kyle, he tested here, I don’t know, few months ago […] we relied heavily on that.”
If there is no Cup practice and qualifying, would Kyle Busch be at a disadvantage since he hasn’t been in an RCR car at Charlotte?

Further, the driver dived into how his team used the data to set up the car. The Talladega winner also shared dirt racing moments with the little racer in the family.

The reporter’s earlier question had sort of a twist. While questioning Busch about his dirt ventures, the reporter also enquired about his fun activities with his son, Brexton. As he laid out the main reasons for him entering the dirt arena, Busch also disclosed the upcoming triple fun with Brexton.
He said, “But the key reason, or the main reason, why I do what I do on the dirt side is just with Brexton. He gets to go run his go-kart stuff or his junior sprint stuff, and I’ll run the micros. We’ll run on the same night, so we’ll be together.”
Busch further added, “We have a big week next week coming up, where we’re going to go to St. Louis and run at Tri-Cities on Thursday, Doe Run on Friday, and Wayne County on Saturday – him and me both. It’s going to be a lot of fun to be able to go up there and race those three tracks on three separate nights, and have a good time running, him and I.”
