The 2023 NASCAR season couldn’t be any more exhilarating for the enthusiasts. As the Playoffs approach, with the culmination of the regular season, the battle for the crown has heated up, dropping surprises along the way. But before the drivers gear up for the playoffs, they must ensure they clear the points benchmark.
But it is Kyle Busch who has already let the burden of points and wins lift over his shoulder, as he clinched his third victory of the season in St. Louis. The ongoing season so far has been the most unpredictable one so far, with 10 different winners in 15 races. And leading the pack are William Byron, the Hendrick Motorsports prodigy, and RCR’s Kyle Busch who are tied together with three wins each to their name.
As the 2x Cup Series winner clinched his third title, at the World Wide Technology Raceway, no one could be more elated than Kyle Busch and his No.8 Chevrolet team. This was evident from the video that was posted by NASCAR on Instagram. But Busch’s victory is surely not settling well with his rival and former team Joe Gibbs Racing.

With a Third Victory, Kyle Busch Equals Himself to the Total of JGR Wins
The news is still fresh from the oven when Joe Gibbs Racing decided to part with their star driver, Rowdy Busch, due to failed sponsorship talks in 2022. And people are yet to get over the fact that the team did not make efforts to retain Busch, rather speculating of a foul play within the team. And to add to the woes, with three wins, Busch equals the total victories of the JGR team.
Even the former No.18 driver has been critical of his former team. He recently accused Joe Gibbs Racing of the money game when John Hunter Nemechek tried to make his headway in the Cup Series.
Busch had expressed, “This isn’t to be mean or rude or a bad word … but he needs 6 million bucks and he’ll be in a JGR Cup car next year. That’s all he needs. It’s not a success game anymore, it’s a money game. So, if he can find the cash, then there’ll be a seat for him, I’m pretty sure,”
Nevertheless, the win at Missouri is the 63rd win for the racer, after he won the pole position. The race was stretched into overtime after Bubba Wallace suffered mechanical problems. However, that did not deter the No.8 from putting in his efforts, which finally paid off, as he outlasted his former teammate Denny Hamlin and Team Penske’s Joey Logano.
In the post-race interview, an elated Kyle Busch told FOX Sports, “That was pretty awesome. Man, to sit on the pole and lead a whole lot of laps, and have my guys do such a great job today, was pretty phenomenal for us. Great for RCR.”
Kyle Busch’s win also holds a special meaning for his crew chief Randall Burnett, as the Gateway happens to be his hometown. The team’s joy was apparent from the video that was posted on Instagram after the No.8 drove to victory lane. The team was also joined by Busch’s wife Samantha and his son Brexton.

Rowdy Busch is surely showing the zeal and grit he showed when he won his Cup Series championships. This has clearly reinforced the fact he may be passed over his prime, but he still has tricks upon his sleeves. With three victories, he is ready to race down the road for perhaps a third championship title.
