Kyle Busch has had his fair share of ups and downs in his illustrious career. The two-time Cup Series champion is the all-time record holder for wins in the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Craftsman Truck Series. Hailing from a family of racers, Kyle Busch made his name for himself through his talent and hard work. However, it looks like the Richard Childress Racing driver is not having a great Cup Series season.
Apart from his P3 finish at Atlanta and good runs in all races, he has had a pretty average and disappointing season in terms of numbers so far. Now, ahead of the Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Steve Letarte, renowned for Dale Jr‘s Dirty Mo Dough Podcast, discussed Kyle Busch’s current performance.
Why did Steve Letarte and the ‘Professor’ down Kyle Busch at Tier 4?

Dirty Mo Dough is an engaging and informative podcast hosted by Steve Letarte and his parlay pals, Chopper and The Professor. Together, they delve into the world of sports betting, specifically focusing on NASCAR racing. Their discussions involve analyzing odds, crunching statistics, and uncovering hidden value. In its latest episode, Letarte is amazed to find out that the professor has demoted Kyle Busch to Tier 4.
When he asked the professor, “How do you have Kyle Busch as a Tier 4 driver? Kyle, if you’re listening, this is the professor telling me you, the guy that’s one as much as D.W. at Bristol, go ahead. How is he tier 4?”
It was then the Professor came up with his organized stats, he said, “Look at his last three finishes at Bristol. 20th, 34th, and 21st. You know, the last time he finished in the top ten, there was during COVID 2020. Look at his season this year. Other than that finish at Atlanta, RCR just been on the struggle bus.”

Fighting for Busch, Letarte continued, “I know you hate to do this; I know the stats say 18th. Would you say he’s a Tier 4 shading up? It’s still Kyle Busch at Bristol.” To which the professor countered once again, as he said, “It’s still Kyle Busch in Bristol. Like I think you have to look at that. But the computer doesn’t look at that right?”

Steve Letarte further mentioned that if a Kyle Busch-esque performance comes up during practice, it would be enough for him to gain momentum. If he secures a position within the top seven or eight, it has the potential to cause a notable shift in the predictor. Finally, the professor agreed and recalled last week’s incident, when Busch was indeed adjusted after practice.
Will Rowdy get along to the playoff race after the Bristol outing?

Undoubtedly, Kyle Busch needs to address his issues promptly to gain momentum in the season. Other than Atlanta’s Truck Series victory and the impressive run at the Cup Series, Busch has been average in the other three Cup Series races. He finished as a P12 at Daytona, a P26 at Las Vegas, and a P22 at the last race in Phoenix.
One cannot write him off at this point, as the next race will be at his favorite track, Bristol Motor Speedway. Kyle Busch has an impressive track record at the high-banked oval. With a total of eight wins at this demanding track, he stands as the most successful active driver there. Notably, Busch’s dominance at Bristol includes a remarkable three-consecutive streak between 2017 and 2019.
Given his historical dominance on this challenging track, I wouldn’t be surprised if he finishes within the top positions. Comment below with your predictions regarding the same.
