When it comes to NASCAR power couples, Kyle Busch and Samantha Busch are in a league of their own. Between Kyle’s two NASCAR Cup Series championships and Samantha’s tireless dedication to family and philanthropy, they’ve built an empire. But these days, it’s their nine-year-old son, Brexton, who’s stealing the show—both on and off the track.

Instead of a romantic getaway or candlelit dinner for their wedding anniversary week, the Busch’s spent it trackside at the Tulsa Shootout. And they wouldn’t have had it any other way. Brexton, after a year of hard work and determination, gave them the ultimate reason to celebrate. What happened in Tulsa? Let’s just say their anniversary got a lot more golden.

At just nine years old, Brexton Busch is already making big noise in the racing world. Competing in the Junior Sprint Division at the Tulsa Shootout, Brexton drove his No. 18B car to a commanding victory, leading every lap of the A-Main. He didn’t just win—he dominated a field of over 100 entrants, securing his first Golden Driller trophy and adding another milestone to his rapidly growing resume.

Samantha couldn’t hide her emotions after the big win. Speaking to FloRacing, she said, “Oh my gosh. I was crying. I’m so proud of him. He’s worked at this all year. He was so upset last year, literally every race he went to this year, he’s like, ‘I’m doing it for Tulsa. I’m doing it for the Driller,’ and he did it. I’m so happy.”

Even Kyle Busch, one of the coolest under pressure on the NASCAR circuit, admitted that watching Brexton race makes him more nervous than anything he’s experienced behind the wheel. “I think this is more stress and more butterflies on me here for him than it is for the Daytona 500,” he said.

The win was the culmination of a year of hard work, where Brexton made it clear his sights were set on Tulsa. And for Kyle and Samantha, spending their anniversary cheering from the stands made it all worth it. “This is worth it though!” Samantha added as Kyle chimed in, “Yeah, the Driller’s worth it.”

The field was packed with talent, including Jax Wittmer, who finished second, and Owen Larson, son of 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson, who came in sixth. But on this day, Brexton was untouchable. With this victory, Brexton added yet another accolade to his growing list of accomplishments, including championships at Millbridge Speedway and PA Speedweek.

Kyle summed up his feelings as a father best: “Just can’t be prouder of the boy and everything that he’s done. Congratulations and thanks to everyone.”

After his win, Brexton had some fun sharing what life is like with his parents. According to the FloRacing interviewer, when the topic of Samantha came up, he didn’t hesitate to call her a strict mom, because she apparently was against him riding his electric Burromax bike! “Oh my mom’s so mad right now about that Burromax right now… she hates me on stuff that goes really fast. She is not going to like this,” Brexton said after the race.

Mama Busch took issue with these accusations. “I’m like, my dude, you’re nine, and you travel the country like by yourself. I’m really not that strict, I promise!” Samantha laughed. She also agreed to Brexton not giving her credit for a delectable pasta dinner she made earlier in the week.

Meanwhile, the dynamic between father and son is as entertaining as it is heartwarming. Kyle Busch admits that dirt racing is still new territory for him, often joking that Brexton knows more about it than he does. “There was a race earlier this year where Brexton told me to run the bottom. But of course, I went up top trying to make something happen,” Kyle shared with a laugh. “Afterward, Brexton was like, ‘I told you to run the bottom!’”

Despite the nerves and the occasional advice session, Kyle and Samantha are clearly loving every minute of this journey with Brexton. For them, racing isn’t just about winning trophies—it’s about spending time together as a family and supporting their son’s dreams.
