There has been a clear shift in the age group of drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series. Of course, we see more and more young racers in the stock cars now. And Chase Elliott and Bubba Wallace have been at the center, even before they won races. However, Kyle Busch found it “stupid”, and thinks Kyle Larson is the better choice between the two.
Shockingly, his brother, Kurt, backed him in those claims.

Back in 2018, Busch spoke against NASCAR promoting young drivers like Elliott, Bubba, and Jones in a media appearance in Charlotte. And his brother, Kurt, supported the comments.
Kurt said, “I agree with certain aspects of what he’s challenged, and then I disagree with other parts of it. But what I think he’s trying to say is we’re promoting these guys, and they don’t have the race wins yet.”
He took a special mention of Kyle Larson as he added, “There’s zero in the win column for a guy like Chase Elliott. There’s zero for Bubba Wallace, Erik Jones — all those guys. (Kyle) Larson’s out there. He’s young, he’s winning and they need to push him.”
Essentially, he’s implying that Larson is better than Elliott. Surprisingly though, Kurt even predicted the future! He said, ” I see him as a future champion.” Moreover, Kyle Larson won the Cup Series Championship in 2021!
He then clarified what his brother said, “I think Kyle’s saying is these guys are being given a free pass — so to speak — become a superstar, and we haven’t seen their success on track translate to what’s being shown to the world.”
But it makes you wonder, what did Kyle Busch say? Let’s find out.
What were Kyle Busch’s comments on Chase Elliott and other young drivers?
Busch was pretty clear in his opinion when he said “I think it’s stupid,”. But he has an explanation.

The driver of the #18 car thinks NASCAR bullies the young drivers to partake in media activities.
He explained, “I guess the younger guys are bullied into doing a lot more things than the older guys are,” he said, “We say no a lot more. We have families and want to spend more time at home.”
