The struggles of owning a NASCAR team are well known. It only gets a deeper touch when someone of Tony Stewart’s stature is seen being affected by it. While his driving career was stellar, unfortunately, the same hasn’t been the case with his team, Stewart-Haas Racing. In fact, his problems have only increased since Ross Chastain earned a massive sponsorship recently.

It is no secret that Stewart has tons of experience behind him and is well-versed in the dynamics of NASCAR. Unfortunately, he is running out of options now as SHR faces a challenging few months.

There is no doubt that Ross Chastain has come a long way in his career. Especially after his performance in the ongoing season, he has shown his true capabilities. With his aggressive style of driving, the Trackhouse Racing driver has impressed plenty, including one of Tony Stewart’s long-time sponsors.

Last month, it was confirmed that Busch Light would be jumping ship and joining Chastain next season onward. The move comes after Kevin Harvick’s retirement at the end of the season. Although Josh Berry has been confirmed as his replacement, Anheuser-Busch’s brand worth $150 billion opted for a move away from Stewart’s team.

While it was a major blow for SHR, it only gets more difficult for them with time. Reportedly, even Aric Almirola looks uncertain about his return for the 2024 season. Given that that’s the case, the Tony Stewart-owned team would be desperately hunting for a replacement.

As per BeyondTheFlag.com, it seemed that Front Row Motorsports drivers emerged as options for SHR. While Michael McDowell and Todd Gilliland have been secured for the next season, Zane Smith remains a viable option for Stewart and his team. However, the move looks very tricky at the moment given SHR’s struggles with sponsorship.

As Bob Pockrass from Fox Sports reported, Smith may end up at SHR or Kaulig, but it all comes down to the availability of a sponsorship deal.

It only makes one wonder how different the scenario would have been had Busch Light still been associated with Stewart’s team. Having said that, SHR’s troubles aren’t going away easily. Their performance this season has only invited more scrutiny.

With Kevin Harvick retiring at the end of the season, Stewart-Haas Racing was expected to deliver strongly this season. Unfortunately, that has not happened. As of today, only Harvick remains in the playoffs, with only one playoff point to his name.

Speaking on the GOPRNLive podcast, Lee Spencer spoke about it. He said, “This is not the way we all wanted to see Kevin Harvick go out of this sport because we know his contributions to the sport, Motorsports in general. If Kevin Harvick can’t be competitive at Stewart Haas Racing, you have to be there and scratching your head.”

It only got more intense when former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty made a strong statement. He said, “I think the speed at which they’ve fallen from grace is the mind-blowing part.” Truly, these are worrying times for SHR but with Tony Stewart at the helm, there is a strong belief of turning it around.
