Back in 2018, after Chase Elliott secured his first-ever win, he was interviewed and asked what would be his best moment throughout the duration between the white flag to the moment he got up on the plane. A young Elliott then mentioned his favorite moments which also involved another Hendrick Motorsport legend. During the conversation, Elliott mentioned his one regret from that day.

Elliott said, I would say I would say, you know, number one, dad being there was pretty cool. Dad being there and him getting to, well, experience that together, I think, was pretty cool. I wish my mom had been there too. They don’t miss many races and of course, you know, she wasn’t there. But a close second to that and something that I’ll never forget was Jimmy pushing me around, you know, to the front stretch.”

“That was, you know, so cool because he’s been a, he’s become a really good friend of mine and a guy I looked up to for a long time, so to kind of have all that come full circle there in that moment was was pretty neat and I wouldn’t change it for anything… I didn’t get to burn out which kind of a little upsetting, you know, I was gonna burn to the ground. But of course that happened, but I wouldn’t change it now. Looking back is, you know, having him do that was pretty.”
