Last week indeed was special with veteran Kevin Harvick passing down the torch to his replacement, the Xfinity sensation, and Hendrick Motorsports‘ super sub, Josh Berry. And now the community once again witnessed a wholesome moment that is enough to make any grown man shed a tear.

Post the announcement from SHR, Berry was certainly emotional, considering the rough route he had to traverse to get to this position. A teary-eyed Berry credited his mentor, Dale Earnhardt Jr for his steady support at JR Motorsports where he learned the fundamentals. But soon, the mood turned celebratory as Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner Tony Stewart welcomed the 32-year-old to the Ford camp in an exclusive media briefing. Following the announcement, Harvick’s wife caught the attention of fans as she tweeted out to Berry, wishing him all the best while mentioning her daughter’s confusion.

Unlike most of the current drivers in the Cup Series, Josh Berry had a humble start to his career with Sim Racing, where he met his future owner and mentor, Dale Jr. Soon Berry moved to the second-tier division under the tutelage of Dale Jr himself.

As JRM announced that Berry would be part of its 2021 lineup, driving the #8 car for 12 races, Berry would then go down in history as one of the very few to win their maiden race in the series at Martinsville. He then made his Cup Series debut as Justin Haley’s replacement at Dover International Speedway for Spire Motorsports.

Soon the phenom made a name for himself when he piloted the HMS #9 Chevy of Chase Elliott to the second position, only behind the winner and Elliott’s teammate, Kyle Larson. This stellar performance put him on the map, as the community identified Berry as a solid Cup Series contender. Though SHR and Berry were in serious talks amid Harvick’s retirement, Stewart cleared all the rumors when he announced the 32-year-old’s entry into the team as the full-time driver of the #4 Mustang.

And with the news becoming the talk of the town, Harvick’s better half, DeLana Harvick shared a wholesome moment with her daughter, mentioning Berry and wishing him all the best as she mentioned her confused daughter. She wrote, “Very happy for @joshberry and the 4 team.

I told Sass-a-frass the morning of the announcement that Pops went to turn over the keys to the 4 car. She was super confused! She couldn’t figure out how he was going to race the rest of the year if he gave his keys away.”

Soon fan messages started pouring in from all directions, some even joining the fun with their own wits, “Did u tell her he hasn’t need keys to race ever lol.”
