Rodney Childers, the crew chief of Stewart-Haas Racing driver, Kevin Harvick, recently took to Twitter to post about his own team’s chances of being in the Cup series in 2023 after placing a bet. The Mega Million’s jackpot did not see any numbers match, and the pool has now risen to $1.02 Billion dollars.

After hearing the news of no matches, Roney wrote, “There is a 0.000000001% chance Rodney Childers Motorsports goes cup racing in 2023.”

Rodney Childers himself was a racing driver and also a successful one. He won a total of seven championships in South Carolina and five additional championships at the nationals. Then he made his move to Late Model Stock Car racing back in 1997.
Between 1999 to 2002, he competed in the Hooters Pro Cup Series and also the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series. He also raced in the Busch series for a while where.
He finally retired in 2003 and become a mechanic. He is currently employed by Stewart-Haas Racing as a crew chief.

Rodney Childers talks about the Next-Gen cars
Childers thinks there’s a massive generational gap between the cars that raced during his time and today. This being his first time working with Next-gen cars, like everyone else on the grid, things that were previously familiar now seem alien.

It was tough for him to rework his decades-old knowledge surrounding cars to work in 2022. It is almost like a fresh restart. He mentions that it has been a challenge trying to figure out what the new cars can do. But regardless of the challenges, the 46-year-old accepts the problems head-on.

Stewart-Haas Racing driver, Kevin Harvick, has had a winless season so far with 19 races down. Even though the driver has managed to get hold of a few top 5 finished, there definitely seems to be room for improvement which Rodney and his mechanics need to find out and work towards patching the gap.
