Last weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Bubba Wallace did himself no favors. After a brief tussle with Kyle Larson, Wallace appeared to intentionally drive into the Hendrick driver. This resulted in knocking both of them out of the race, including an unsuspecting Christopher Bell. In light of the incident, Wallace was punished with a one-race suspension. Now, Kevin Harvick has given his two cents on the whole scenario.

Harvick lauded the punishment and called Wallace’s actions unacceptable. He wrote on Twitter, “Intentionally hooking people in the RR should never be acceptable. Protect us from ourselves. I hope this is the beginning of the end of it happening. I’ve been guilty of several of these instances you see happening but I also had an iron fist of Mike Helton waiting for me after I’d acted like a fool. I believe an iron fist is needed going forward and that will trickle down.”

Kevin Harvick has been championing the cause of driver safety
The veteran driver spoke about the conduct of ‘these kids‘ and their overly aggressive antics. Admittedly, it is a little ironic, since he had a bit of a feud with Chase Elliott in 2020. However, he does have a point, because this season alone, three drivers were rendered out of action, due to concussions or other injuries. Chief among them were the likes of Kurt Busch, Alex Bowman, and Cody Ware. In fact, Busch’s accident may have been a contributing factor to his reducing his participation to a part-time driver role

Aside from Harvick, Denny Hamlin has been particularly vocal about driver safety. Most of the time, their gripe was largely to do with the Next Gen car. Especially the fact that any hit that a driver receives warrants a lot of concern for their health. On the other end of the scale, you have scenes like what Bubba Wallace did, intentionally wrecking Kyle Larson. It is pretty much egg on everyone’s faces because the drivers have been preaching about driver safety. Then, here is a driver who intentionally wrecked another.
