Kevin Harvick says Kyle Larson is better than Max Verstappen—agree or disagree?

The world of motorsport is at a crossroads, as Kyle Larson states that he is a “better” driver than Max Verstappen. Fans from both disciplines are at war with each other, trying to prove that their favorite driver is the better one. Despite the recent crash at the Michigan International Speedway, fans are still backing up Larson, and it’s not just fans anymore.

Some still say that Kyle Larson is the greatest because the question here is who is the better driver across different sports. Now we know that Larson has experience in NASCAR, IndyCar, and Dirt, among other series of racing. On the other hand, Verstappen is a three-time F1 world champion who is staring down his fourth possible title. Although Verstappen has not disputed Larson’s claim, as he gave a diplomatic answer when he was asked, the same could not be said for NASCAR drivers.

This debate has become the talk of the town as fans and critics from both sports are coming forward to find a conclusion. Although it will be difficult to test the two drivers against each other on equal footing, Kevin Harvick breaks his silence on the matter as he gives a detailed explanation on his podcast, with NASCAR on FOX. The Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour podcast discusses the events of the Michigan race, and soon after that, the Larson vs. Verstappen topic came up.

Kevin Harvick made his stand clear by saying, “The thing that I can tell you is that if Kyle Larson went to be Max Verstappen to drive Max Verstappen’s car, it wouldn’t be but one or two days, and he would be damn close to being as fast as Max Verstappen. But there is no way that Max Verstappen comes over here and does that in a stock car.” However, it was not all about saying that Larson is just a better driver, as he continued, “So, I think Max is extremely talented and very, very, very good at what he does in his discipline.”

Taking points from Max Verstappen’s interview with Ash Vandelay, Harvick stated, “I heard him [Verstappen] talk about drivers being specialized in their discipline. Yep, that’s not Kyle Larson. Right, Kyle Larson can go out and drive anything. He’s very good at his discipline, but he’s got multiple disciplines.” The former NASCAR champion spoke about Larson’s triumph in the IndyCar race, and although he mentioned that Verstappen would do okay, he doubts that his performance would match that of the Hendrick Motorsports driver.

According to Harvick, the competition between Max Verstappen and Kyle Larson is not even fair, as Larson is known to be a more versatile driver. During the No. 5 Camaro driver’s interview, he was asked if he expects to see motorsports in the Olympics to go up against the Red Bull driver, and he gave a realistic answer as to why that does not seem likely.

It was Kyle Larson who initially spoke on the issue of the best driver in the world, and the rest is history. Now that the two drivers are caught up in the middle of the storm, the only way to get an outcome would be to put them head-to-head in multiple motorsport events. Considering that, the idea of having Motorsports added to the Olympics came up and although the possibility of it was soon shot down by Larson, he had valid points to explain why.

According to Kyle Larson, the Olympics focuses mainly on the athleticism of the participants. When it comes to Motorsports, it’s more of a 50/50 situation where half of it is based on the driver’s skills and the other half is up to the machine they are driving. Even when it comes to stock cars, no two cars can be identically the same, as Larson stated, and that is why the Olympics would not be a platform where the two take each other head-on, if they ever plan to do so that is.
