Kevin Harvick has always had a way of keeping things lively, whether he’s pulling pranks on his teammates or throwing out playful digs. Even after retiring from racing and stepping into the role of a FOX booth analyst, his sense of humor is still making a splash.
Take, for example, his recent pre-race chat with Bubba Wallace at the Pennzoil 400 in Las Vegas. Harvick threw out a comment, calling Wallace’s car ‘lit,’ which didn’t just have Wallace cracking up but had the entire booth in stitches. Harvick didn’t let the joke end there. On an episode of his Happy Hour podcast, he even embraced a challenge related to his witty remark.

Bubba Wallace hit the track riding high off two consecutive top-five finishes. Reflecting on his hot start and his aims for Las Vegas, Wallace shared, “We’re doing exactly what we wanted to do: start this season off a little different than my last six. So, proud of the team, proud of the effort from everybody in the #23 team. We’ve been doing a really good job so yeah, gotta keep it up. It’s only the third race so, top fives are great but you’ve got to make them last, you’ve got to make the momentum last, that’s what we’re focused on today.”
The chat was going pretty smoothly until Kevin Harvick decided to throw in a bit of fun, telling Wallace, “Alright, buddy. Well, that Columbia Camry looks pretty lit today, so floor that thing.” Wallace couldn’t help but burst into laughter, teasing Harvick with, “Haha, you’re too old to be saying it like that!”

On his show, Harvick Happy Hour, the ex-SHR racer shared how his name blew up on Twitter, leaving his wife totally in the dark about the buzz. Harvick had to fill her in on the whole saga. Furthermore, to crank up the excitement, Mamba Smith threw down a gauntlet to NASCAR fans and a fun challenge for Kevin Harvick: “If you wanna potentially want to have some fun with Kevin make sure you give us a 5-star review and the word that you want to see, and he might slide it in there for Kevin.”
And wouldn’t you know it, Kevin Harvick was all in, saying, “So we are doing this every week? So, I am getting the word on Friday and I have to figure out how to incorporate it on Sunday. I am gonna participate, it’s gonna be fun.”
That’s one of the perks of being in the broadcast booth for Harvick. He’s not sweating over penalties, his car’s performance, or what’s up next weekend. His gig now is to break down the races and sprinkle in his insights. Speaking of which, Harvick recently got real about the ups and downs of swapping the driver’s seat for the broadcaster’s microphone.

Kevin Harvick, unlike some drivers who fade away when their performance dips, got to bow out on his own terms, keeping fans on their toes right up to his final lap, and then eventually transitioned to the role of an analyst.
Diving into his new role as a commentator, Harvick recently shared some insights, “Well, it’s a lot less stressful. I know that for sure. I don’t have to worry about how fast my car went, who’s mad at me this week, what time do the meetings start? We do have a lot more meetings than what I had with the team, but all that is way lower than it used to be.”

But it’s not all smooth sailing. Kevin Harvick touched on the hurdles too, saying, “The biggest [problem] thing for me is that I know all the names and the faces that are in the booth or working in the production trailer. So, getting to know everybody, has a little bit of that there, but not near as much as if I were just coming in and not having ever sat in a booth before.”
And it’s clear, that Harvick is loving his retirement life, something you can catch in every conversation he has these days.
