Kevin Harvick Says “Everything is Already Prepared” For the Remaining NASCAR Playoff Races

Kevin Harvick finished second in the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas. After a nip-and-tuck battle against Joey Logano, which lasted nearly 40 laps, Harvick was finally beaten off the pit-road in the final caution.

When he was asked if he was looking at Phoenix at all, or just focusing on clinching the first position, considering the points situation, he said, “I think everything has been pushed into the pile already.

“All these cars are pretty much prepared throughout the next three weeks, with the travel to Phoenix, Texas, back to Martinsville. Everything is already prepared.

“I don’t think we would do anything any different than what we have right now just because of the fact that it’s tough to change course right now because of where we are in the schedule and the logistics that have to go with that,” he further added.

Championship chances for Kevin Harvick

Harvick finished 0.312 seconds behind Logano and maintained his lead in the standings. This is quite crucial as one of the title slots will be determined on the basis of points.

The Stewart-Haas Racing driver had the fastest car going into the race but was well blocked by Logano, who beat him off the pit-road in the final caution of the race. Harvick is still in a position to reach the championship, and his second placed finish has only helped his cause.

He has a 41-point lead over the cutoff spot and sits pretty with 67 playoff points with two more to go at Texas and Martinsville.

In addition to Harvick, Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski are the drivers currently above the cutline. Hamlin won Stage 2 but went into the wall in the Final Stage and was unable to make a comeback.

With the odds stacked in Harvick’s favor and the points that he has after the first race, he would be fancying his chances of ending the 3-year-long title drought in the NASCAR Cup Series.
