In light of the recently finished Daytona 500 race, there were a few rare sights on the track. Surely a race of this stature gets the drivers overwhelmed at times, more so when they do not get the expected result. A similar thing happened to Jimmie Johnson, as his #84 Toyota finished in P28 at the Daytona International Speedway.

For J.J., it was an emotional brawl. What did Kevin Harvick notice about Johnson? As Kevin Harvick spoke on the Daytona 500 weekend recap episode, he talked about what stood out for him when he talked to Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson after the race. While the new FOX analyst in the box praised Busch for his calmness post-big one, he opined some contrary views on the 7-time NASCAR champion.

In the latest video from ‘HarvickHappyHour’ on X, Kevin Harvick and the hosts were seen recapping the post-race emotions of two of the most popular faces in the NASCAR world, Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson. Harvick discussed that a lot has changed in Johnson since he is on the flip side, owning the Legacy Motor Club. He had a tough time going out and answering people about what did not work for them at Daytona.

No doubt, throughout his career, he witnessed lots of ups and downs. Harvick, emphasizing the same, said, “When he got out of that car, I saw things that Jimmy Johnson, I have never seen before. He’s on the flip side of things as he’s on the team ownership side responsible for all these sponsors.  The thing that shocked me the most was the emotion and just you could tell that, that the anxiety of the situation and he had a tough time talking and to, to see that emotion out of Jimmy Johnson was something that I, we had all seen before.”

The 7 time NASCAR champion got out due to a multi-car wreck on the track just after six laps. However, Johnson, as a team owner, had a great time as the other two drivers secured a spot in the top 10. John Hunter Nemechek finished at 7th, while Erik Jones stopped at 8th.

In 2020, Johnson decided to go off track and try his luck in the IndyCar series. He joined hands with Chip Ganassi Racing on a part-time basis in 2021 and 2022. Speaking about this, Kevin Harvick said in the same interview that Jimmie Johnson’s ability to try out-of-the-box things intrigues him.

“He went away to, to race Indy cars and tried to learn something new there. Now he’s come back on the team ownership side, having to learn on the, on the business side of things. And for some reason, got back in the race car to be able to go out there and, and learn a new car. So it’s like he is all about the challenge and stepping outside of that box to, to do things that are just not supposed to be done,” said the new FOX analyst.
