Home/NASCAR

Earlier, NASCAR revealed the calendars for the 2023 season, for all three classes. Of course, the biggest attraction was the return of the North Wilkesboro Speedway in the Cup and Truck Series. However, there was another familiar old name that popped up, the Milwaukee Mile at Wisconsin.

The best part is that not only is it part of the Truck Series calendar, but it is a Playoff venue. In fact, it will host the second race in the Playoffs after the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. The last time the Milwaukee Mile was featured on the Truck Series calendar, was all the way back in 2009. It first hosted Truck races in 1995 until 2009, before going into a hiatus.

How did NASCAR fans react to the speedway’s return to the Truck Series?

Naturally, many fans were thrilled to see the mile-long track return to NASCAR. Although it is only hosting the Truck Series, for now, some are hoping to see the Cup Series race over there. It is worth mentioning that many prominent NASCAR names have raced at the track. They include Dale Earnhardt Jr, Danica Patrick, Jeff Gordon and many more. Dale Jr even won at the Milwaukee Mile in 1998.

Other fans were happy that Wisconsin natives will finally get a chance to watch a race. Some marvelled at the sight of the old trucks at the speedway and others were just happy to see them racing back at Milwaukee. Few people even hoped that eventually, all three NASCAR Series make landfall at the speedway.

All in all, the general consensus was that this track’s inclusion made up for the loss of Road America in the Truck Series. Fortunately for Road America fans, it will still feature in the 2023 Xfinity Series calendar. Meanwhile, Milwaukee will solely remain on the Truck Series calendar for the moment. As for the other returnee, the North Wilkesboro Speedway, it will feature on the Cup and Truck calendars.
