In the last couple of decades, Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr have been serious rivals on track. However, it has been a while since the two NASCAR icons have gone up against one another. They might be the owners of the CARS Tour, but it would be pretty special to see them go up against one another on track. As far as Harvick is concerned, he has the perfect race track for that contest to go down.

Junior and Harvick, along with others, recently revealed the full schedule of the 2024 CARS Tour. The action kicks off at Southern National Motorsports Park in March and concludes at the iconic North Wilkesboro Speedway in mid-October. The CARS Tour campaign next year will have 19 races and it sure promises to be a thrilling Late Model Stock Car racing series.

Co-owners of the CARS Tour, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Kevin Harvick were both at the press conference when the schedule for next season was announced. ‘The Closer’ might have recently taken retirement from full-time racing, but he is definitely not completely leaving the sport, even for a little bit.

Kevin Harvick was asked where out of the opening race tracks he would like to have a run at, but he did not seem to have a definite answer. There are a lot of good racing venues on the schedule, that’s for sure, but the racing veteran revealed that he enjoyed the teaching and learning aspect of things rather than the driving.

“I enjoy watching our cars run. I enjoy watching our races run and watching from afar because I just…I enjoy the teaching and learning aspect of it because it’s so much different than the driving aspect of it. I’ve never raced at many of the race tracks on the schedule but those first five races at the beginning of the season are always pretty competitive and…I don’t know if I can narrow it down to just one,” the former Cup Series driver said.

However, he said that driving around the Florence Motor Speedway with his son was an enjoyable experience and that he wouldn’t mind racing Junior on that track.

“I’ve driven some laps around Florence in the legend car with Keelan and that was pretty enjoyable. I know how much Dale likes to race at Florence, so maybe it’d be fun for us both to race there,” Harvick added.

Being a co-owner of a racing series has opened Kevin Harvick’s eyes to a whole new aspect of racing. While it might not be quite as enjoyable as the racing itself, it is something that has expanded the 47-year-old’s knowledge of the sport even further.

Reflecting upon his first year as a series co-owner, ‘The Closer’ explained everything he has learned so far. Despite being in the sport for over two decades, there are always things one can learn and that is exactly with happened to Kevin Harvick. From tire compounds to engine options, there was a lot the former Stewart-Haas Racing driver did not know about.

“I had no idea before being involved in this what the options were for engines, what the tire compound was, how much it costs to race. And you listen to the team owners and the things they bring up, it’s the simple things,” the former Cup Series driver said as per FloRacing.
