Did you know Rick Hendrick and Kevin Harvick are really close? Well, this was particularly evident as Harvick himself revealed how he left everything just so he could fulfill the Hendrick Motorsports owner’s request.

With an estimated net worth of $70 million, Kevin Harvick, the second richest driver in NASCAR history, boasts a remarkable tally of 60 triumphs in the NASCAR Cup Series—a true force to be reckoned with. Now carrying the torch of his legacy, his 11-year-old son Keelan Harvick is being seen etching his name in the racing world. Recently, Keelan found himself in the victory lane at the Wake County Speedway in Raleigh, NC. But a crucial figure was missing from his special moment–his father! Reportedly, Kevin Harvick’s absence was due to crucial phone call he received, asking for a favor, which just couldn’t decline.

Harvick had reportedly received a call from the HMS icon and mentioned that he said “okay” to the favor even before knowing what was being asked of him!

Harvick said, I think, you know, sometimes there are phone calls that you react to differently than others.” He said, “Rick called me one morning and he said, ‘Hey I need a favor,’ and I said, ‘Okay,’ before he asked me what the question was. I didn’t even know what he was going to ask because he would do that for you and he’s always been very good to me.” Rick Hendrick reportedly asked the retired veteran to fill in for Kyle Larson, who was preparing for the Indianapolis 500, which coincided with the NASCAR All-Star race.

His commitment to Hendrick was what kept him from being with his son in his celebratory moment. However, when Keelan posted a tweet about his victory, Harvick, a happy and proud dad, reposted the tweet and captioned “Sounded pretty exciting! @KeelanHarvick.”

Keelan Harvick qualified P5 out of 27 and battled hard for the win at the Wake County Speedway in Raleigh, NC. He took the victory ahead of London McKenzie and Isaas Kitzmiller. NASCAR fans were quick to congratulate Keelan. One user said, Great Job last night Keelan! Always a pleasure having you out at “America’s Favorite Bullring” One thing is for sure, Keelan isn’t here to play and earlier this year, Keelan and Kyle’s Busch son Brexton also put out a powerful message to the racing community.

Keelan Harvick and Brexton Busch teamed up and put out a message to the entire racing community. The message was—“Our pops are old, but we’re just getting started!”

Keelan and Brexton are both following in the footsteps of their legendary dads. Last year, Brexton debuted at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Beginner Bandoleros division, completing his first lap and securing a second-place position in only two attempts. Last year he, notably, won over 30 races and got the crown of “Beginner box stock division champion”. This year, he signed a three-year contract extension with Servpro Industries because of his stellar performance.

Meanwhile, Keelan Harvick too is acing it and won the Legends feature at the New River.  His battle for the win was intense, and in the 30 laps, he swapped the lead back and forth with Jacob Staten, before securing Victory Lane. Kevin Harvick in this podcast talked about his son with pride. He said, “I’ve not seen him race like that before. I’ve seen him do a lot of great things, but to put together the last five laps like he did, I was pretty proud of him.”

Young Harvick also finished second in his debut on Street Stock, but he was definitely in the position to win it. But he missed a shift on a late restart and Tyler Smith picked up the victory while he finished second. And now he added another hat to his accolades.

And these powerful performances are being closely watched by not just fellow drivers but also by team owners. Owner of Trackhouse Racing Justin Marks earlier on hinted the possibility of bringing in the father-son duo in Trackhouse in the future. He said, “You know Trackhouse is in this spot now where we are growing in popularity, we are establishing our Cup team and we have to start looking at what the talent looks like in the future and grow the brand and play in different areas. Kevin is a good friend of mine and I have watched Keelan come up at the GoPro Motorplex in North Carolina, so it’s really nice. You know, he’s a few years away from Cup but it is nice for Trackhouse to support some of the really young talents coming up.”

While there is no plan or statement yet, Keelan in his post did tag Trackhouse Racing, and that gives a hint as to what might come. What do you think about young Harvick? Do you think he has the potential to make it big like his father? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
