Will Kevin Harvick's expertise turn Rackley W.A.R. into a powerhouse in the Truck Series?

Kevin Harvick has kept himself busy after retiring from NASCAR racing. After his stint in the FOX booth calling out Cup Series races, he found his racing mojo back by hoping in the late model stock cars. Recently he was in action at Bull Ring, Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Kevin Harvick Inc. even made a return to full-time racing with Pro Late Model and Late Model entries in 2025. But he seems to have found new partners in Rackley W.A.R. Racing. This collaboration will see Harvick and his son Keelan join the driver lineup for Rackley in the PLM and Late Model stock cars. A move that could potentially see Keelan breaking through at the Truck Series level.

The former SHR driver had already announced his plans to return to Late Models in 2025. “If I’m gonna race, I’m going to have to race more. So I’m going to run 14 or 15 races next year.” He said this on the Happy Hour podcast. With KHI’s return to full-time racing, this move did make sense, but nobody could’ve expected he would plan this new adventure with a different team until now.

On the other end of this partnership, Harvick is expected to bring in his expertise and experience in guiding Rackley’s Truck Series program. Their developmental driver, Dawson Sutton, is going to transition into a full-time role in 2025. But this doesn’t mean KHI would shut down its operation in the CARS Tour next year.

“Rackley W.A.R. has a solid and proven track record that will drastically improve the learning curve for Keelan and I in the Super and Pro Late Models. In return, I hope that my years of owning and operating a championship-winning truck program will help shorten Dawson’s learning curve in his rookie truck season and positively impact their truck program. We look forward to working with Willie and the Sutton family in 2025.” Harvick said this in a press release via KHI.

Those of you who have followed Harvick’s stint as a team owner would know KHI’s dominance in the Truck Series. The team won two driver championships in 2007 and 2009 with Ron Hornaday Jr., and they had 43 Truck Series wins under their team banner. So, Rackley W.A.R. is banking on KHI’s strong roots to help them guide their program for Sutton.

The team entered the Craftsman Truck Series in 2021 after Wille Allen and Curtis Sutton forged a partnership. Since then, the team has competed in 87 races and seen the likes of Josh Berry, Matt Dibenedetto, and Ty Dillon take charge of the #25 entry. In the four years, the team has managed a single win, which came in 2022 at Talladega. But they are hoping to be more competitive with this partnership and back Dawson Sutton’s rookie run.

“Teaming up with Kevin Harvick is a game-changer for us at Rackley W.A.R. His experience as a champion driver and owner brings an incredible amount of knowledge that will help elevate our truck program to the next level. There’s no doubt this collaboration will drive success, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead,” said Rackley W.A.R. co-owner Willie Allen.

Sharing a similar sentiment on how Kevin Harvick’s involvement could be a big boost for the team, Curtis Sutton, the co-owner of the team, added, “In our fifth year as an organization, Rackley W.A.R. is taking strategic steps for a successful 2025 and beyond. Kevin is the first link of many more to come. He will help Willie and I guide the Late Model and NASCAR Truck Series team for long-term success.”
