After this Sunday’s race, Jimmie Johnson has just two races left until he waves goodbye to NASCAR. With the end of an era quickly approaching, a few of his Cup rivals and contemporaries paid tribute to him. The likes of Kevin Harvick, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, and Brad Keselowski, all contributed.

Johnson is set to wrap up his 20-year career in the stock car series at the end of the current season. As a 7-time Cup champion, the 45-year-old is considered a legend alongside Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. However, he will hang up his NASCAR boots after the season finale at Phoenix and head to IndyCar.

Hamlin gushed that not many drivers could reach the level of success that the Hendrick Motorsports driver reached. At the same time, he is highly respected in the community with hardly any enemies.

Meanwhile, Kyle Busch said, “Hey Jimmie, it’s been awesome being able to come into the sport and be your teammate. A true inspiration and an honor to race with you during this time. Although it’s been very aggravating as well too, winning as many championships as you did in a row.”
