At the Kansas Motor Speedway, Denny Hamlin seized victory, while championship rival Kevin Harvick finished in 4th place. Harvick led the last few laps until Hamlin, Brad Keselowski and Martin Truex Jr. relegated him to fourth-place.

Despite a decent finish, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver felt that he ‘didn’t have a very good night’.

Apparently, one of the biggest issues plaguing the No. 4 Ford Mustang was a lack of balance. A few laps before Denny Hamlin pounced, Kevin called out to his team over the radio, complaining about his car was going “sideways”.

In other words, he had to fight to get the car to turn into the corners. This left him going sideways on the exits the longer the run went.

“We were just holding on and hoping for another restart because we could run for a couple of laps, but that was about it,” said Harvick to the media.

How did Kevin Harvick do in the race?

With 22 laps left on the board, Harvick dove down the inside from third place. Once he achieved that, he switched to the outside of race leader Alex Bowman on a restart.

For the very first time, Kevin Harvick finally snatched the lead and tried to bolt into the distance. Unfortunately, he held it for nine laps before relinquishing it for good and he was struggling in clean air.

“I saw him get loose, and I saw kind of blood in the water there, so we just ran him down,” said Hamlin.

With this win, Denny Hamlin surges ahead of Harvick on the victory chart this season. However, Harvick leads the overall point standings and can win an additional 15 playoff points if he wins the regular-season Championship.
